Both have played important roles at our center and in our lives, and both will be dearly missed. For the past 19 years, Mary Ann Stetler has helped the Silvertones on Wednesdays, escorted trips, and worked too many parties to count. She is gentle and kind, and simply makes the world a better place. Chicago River Walkwith City VenturesThe Chicago Riverwalk has created a space to celebrate the evolution of one of the city’s iconic natural features. The concrete pathway extends to river-level, where you can get as close as you feel com-fortable. Blair Kamin of the Chicago Tribune called the project a “bold stroke worthy of Daniel Burnham.” The new riverwalk is an audacious step away from the one-time river of refuse and a step toward better, smarter and more people-friendly public spaces in and around the Loop. Board a Chicago Water Taxi at Michigan Avenue and witness the water for yourself as you explore the North Branch of the Chicago River. Travel to Clark Park and view the Jeanne Gang-designed boathouse, situated on the former site of Riverview Park. Enjoy lunch at Kingsbury Cafe and choose your entrée selection of: 1) grilled turkey, brie and pear sandwich or 2) bacon avocado chicken sandwich, or grilled vegetable rice wrap.
