Case Study:

Providing Customers with Superior Solutions

A large electric utility was dissatisfied with its conventional

barrel and lock system for its commercial meters.

The keyway in the barrel locks were allowing dirt and

other contaminants to settle in, vandals were inserting

objects in the lock, and insects were building nests and

damaging the internal lock components — causing

the keys to break and making the lock inoperable.

This meant added costs for the utility to repair keys

or replace locks. The utility needed to replace their

locking system as soon as possible to prevent further,

unnecessary costs.

Understanding the customer’s situation, Highfield
