THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

All the commandments written in the Old Testament are upheld in

the New Testament also. But the Fourth Commandment to keep the

seventh-day Sabbath (Exodus 20:8-11) is no longer required for

Christians as it is said in Colossians (2:16).But some cult groups like

Seventh -day Adventist church blindly follow the Sabath day and

also abstain from secular work on saturdays .This is against sound

doctrine.

But in fact the laws in the New Testament seem harder to follow than

the Mosaic Laws. Jesus’ laws were tougher than the Mosaic Law in

many respects; such as hating is now murder, and looking at women

lustfully is now equal to committing adultery. In New Testament,

loving anything more than God is committing idolatry. Idolatry is

seeking security, meaning or purpose in someone or something apart

from God. Expecting glory & praise from people instead of giving it to

God, is another form of Idolatry.

However in New covenant we have abundance of Grace to overcome

situations.

Hebrews 4/16 – Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Matthew 11/30- For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
