The Stop-Hand Technique Before starting, become aware of EuStillness for a few seconds (or longer if you like). Open your hand in front of you with your elbow slightly bent and your palm facing outward. Think of a police officer making the “stop” gesture when directing traffic. Look at everything in front of your hand. For instance, if you are indoors you might see furniture, books, knickknacks, pictures, etc. Casually take in the scene in front of your open hand. Now close your eyes and the objects will remain in your mind for a little while. Become aware of EuStillness. Become easily and clearly aware of that complete stillness. EuStillness will quickly become more dominant in your awareness than the objects in your mind. The mental picture you have of those objects in the room will diminish as EuStillness becomes more dominant. Now become aware of both EuStillness and the objects in the room. You might notice that the objects themselves are made of EuStillness. It is as if stillness is their very essence, which of course it is. Now open your eyes and become aware of EuStillness. Hold your hand out again and become aware of the room objects in front of your hand. Become aware of this stillness within the objects themselves. Just like in your mind, the real objects are also made of EuStillness. Continue to observe the EuStillness within the objects with your awareness more on this stillness. Soon EuStillness will become more dominant in your awareness and the objects less dominant. They seem to fade a little as the stillness becomes stronger. This perception may not occur right away, but as you practice the Stop-Hand Technique with your eyes open you will recognize EuStillness around you more and more. We are not quite done.

The Stop-Hand TechniqueBefore starting, become aware of EuStillness for a few seconds (or longer if you like). Openyour hand in front of you with your elbow slightly bent and your palm facing outward. Think of apolice officer making the “stop” gesture when directing traffic. This perception may not occur right away, but as you practice the Stop-Hand Technique with your eyes open you will recognize EuStillnessaround you more and more. We are not quite done.At present, you have your eyes open and your hand extended while you are aware of EuStillnessin the objects in the room. Now become aware of EuStillness within your whole body. Along withthis shift of perception you might also notice some pleasant sensations (Eufeeling) throughout

your body. Enjoy those pleasant sensations but allow your awareness to be with EuStillness inyour body. Now become aware of EuStillness in your body and the objects in the room both at the sametime. Again, allow your awareness to fall clearly and easily on Eufeeling until it becomes moredominant than your body or the objects in the room.Next, become aware of your body, the objects in the room, and the space between your bodyand the objects. Become aware of EuStillness within that space. Again, become gently butattentively aware of Eufeeling in your body, the objects, and the space between. Basically, you arefirst becoming aware of EuStillness and then Eufeeling. Finally, become aware of EuStillness within you, in front of you, and all around you. Now letyour mind travel outward into space encompassing the Earth, our galaxy, and all of creation.Observe that all is supported by and interpenetrated by EuStillness. Now let your mind go tosmaller and smaller levels of existence. See that molecules are made of atoms, and atoms ofsubatomic particles, and subatomic particles of waves. Observe that all microscopic existence isalso supported by and interpenetrated by EuStillness.Find yourself back in your room where EuStillness is in you and all around you. Becomeclearly aware of that stillness. Now become aware of your Eufeeling shining through the stillness. It can be peace, joy, love, delight, ecstasy, awe, or any of the other reflections of Eufeeling. Letyour awareness be comfortably with Eufeeling and enjoy …The Stop-Hand Technique is designed to make you conscious of the fact that EuStillness is notonly everywhere all the time, but is actually the essence of every object, thought, and emotion. It alsolets you see how Eufeeling shines through EuStillness. The value of this perception is beyondcompare. It catapults us beyond our limited, day-to-day existence, opening our awareness topossibilities yet unthought-of.

For instance, EuStillness gives us direct perception of the sameness of all things. You haveprobably heard that we are all one. What does that mean? Look at another human being. No two lookthe same, nor do they think the same thoughts. Where is the oneness? “We are all one” is a beautifulphilosophy, but without direct experience of that oneness it remains a fanciful philosophy with littlepractical application. Not so anymore. Perception of EuStillness gives us not only direct experienceof the sameness between two people but between everything created including trees, bees, anddimpled knees, to name a few.You may very well ask, “What is the value of seeing the sameness of everything?” You are a verydiscerning reader and I applaud you for asking that question. When you perceive what is the samebetween you and another person, or thing, you lose your fear of that person or thing. Isn’t that true?We endeavor to gather around us those things that are like us. We feel more comfortable, more secure, don’t we? Now think back to when your mind is fully engaged in EuStillness. Didn’t you feel wholeand at home? Was there any room for fear or anger? It is impossible to feel jealousy or revenge whenyou are aware of EuStillness.I have only touched on one of the benefits of EuStillness awareness, but what a whopper! Whatwould the peoples of the world give for freedom from fear? How ironic that fearless living alreadyabides within them. Imagine what would happen if the world population were to become aware ofEuStillness for one day. Then imagine their elation when they found out that fear-free living is open toand easily attainable for each and every one of them, not 20 years down the road but immediately. Mygoodness, what goodness we would harvest.Once you get the hang of the Stop-Hand Technique you will be able to do it with your eyes openjust about anywhere you happen to be. I’ve done it at the barbershop, at the gym, and even whilesneaking an extra scoop of Chunky Monkey ice cream from the freezer, as well as in many other

varied and interesting times and places. Remember to have fun. Initially you will probably want tostart practicing Stop-Hand sitting in a quiet place where you can close your eyes. I recommend thatyou do the Stop-Hand Technique several times a day. Actually, when you’re just starting out you canadd it to the end of your EuStillness Technique. As you become more adept at perceiving EuStillnesswith your eyes open, you can do abbreviated sessions. With practice you will be able to instantlyperceive EuStillness in everything, all around you. Then, just pick up your Eufeeling and off you go.Total time elapsed: 3 seconds. Experiment, do it often, and have fun. It can’t be done any other way.In a Nutshell: The Stop-Hand Technique• Become aware of EuStillness.• Hold out “stop” hand.• Become aware of objects in front of your hand.• Close your eyes and become aware of objects in your mind.• Become aware of EuStillness until more dominant than objects.• Become aware of both EuStillness and objects.• Open your eyes and become aware of EuStillness.• Become aware of objects in front of your hand.• Become aware of EuStillness until stronger than the objects.• Become aware of EuStillness in your whole body.• Become aware of EuStillness in your body and objects until stronger.• Become aware of EuStillness in body, objects, and the space between until stronger.• Become aware of EuStillness within you and all around you.• Become aware of EuStillness on all levels of creation.• Become aware of your Eufeeling in EuStillness.
