Everyone:

Welcome to the 2021 Something Wicked Film Festival

(www.somethingwickedfilmfestival.com)! We are ecstatic to be back after a year

of many changes and challenges for film-makers and film festivals alike. Our

2020 event was completely virtual because we didn’t want to cancel everything

and go an entire year (or more) without an actual event. Since the 2020 virtual

event, we also held our first Something Wicked DocuFest in February (which was

part virtual and part live event) and in December we will holding our first

Something Wicked FanFest! We know how important it is for film-makers to get their films out in front of an

audience and we are striving to continue to do that in the best and safest way we can for both film-makers and our

patrons who love the communal experience of film going.

This being said, we are well aware of the growing concerns of both film-makers and patrons in regards to the

ongoing COVID-19 and Delta variants and therefore are making mask wearing a suggestion but not mandatory.

We will be making our staff wear masks as a precautionary measure for them and everyone else. We will also have

social distance seating which may limit the capacity of our screening rooms but will make everyone feel more

comfortable.

This being said, we have an amazing line up of shorts and feature films for your viewing pleasure! This is one of

the most diverse lineups that we’ve ever had with more World and Georgia Premieres than we’ve ever had which

makes this a very special year in deed. In addition to the films, don’t forget our Physical & In-Person Panel

Discussions on Saturday in addition to our Virtual Panel Discussions on Sunday, which allows film-makers from all

over the world to be a part of our event like never before.

For our Film-Makers, Sponsors, and special guests and ticket holders on Friday the 13th

(August 13th

) we open the

Night with the VIP Party. Meet and greet the people responsible for the films being screened and then at 8:00PM

we have our Opening Night Screening! The film festival really kicks into gear on Saturday, August 14th

and

concludes Sunday night, August 15th

with our Awards Ceremony where film-makers learn which films were the

Best of the Best as chosen by our Judge and Jury Team. I’d also like to take mention of the Saturday Special

Screening of HEAVY METAL 2000 as presented by our very own All-Female Hosted Live Riffing team “That’s What

She RIFFED!” Two years ago they presented the original masterpiece HEAVY METAL and this year they have a go at

the sequel.

I’m hoping that those film-makers and patrons who come out to enjoy our event do so safely and mindful of their

fellow film-makers and patrons. We want to continue producing these events that help promote film-makers,

independent films, and the communal film going experience!

SYNOPSIS:

A young girl, Mila, wakes up every night in cold sweat from her own piercing scream. In her nightmares she relives the death of her parents. She also sees her father with an enigmatic ancient

object, the Wheel of Life. Mila has the same object as a medallion and believes that the Wheel of Life could bring a new dawn in the unbalanced world of magic.

One day, when she is left alone, a young mage, called Varlahm, appears at her home. He turns out to know where the real Wheel of Life is. Mila soon learns that he is an enemy to her nation. Nevertheless, yearning to solve the mystery of the Wheel’s power, she dares to run away with him from her uncle’s home.

Varlahm stole the Wheel of Life from Gorday, the pompous and conceited leader of the Magi of Passion nation. Gorday desires to submit all other nations of magic to his narcissistic authority by any means and bask in the boundaryless power. Varlahm is doing what he can to find out exactly how Gorday is trying to subject them all and prevent his cunning plans. And he has a good reason. If Gorday conquers the world, he’ll spread the heat of the volcanic landscape of his territory to all the other nations, which will make the world look pretty much like hell. Being involved in the death of Mila’s parents, Gorday is nothing but repulsive to her. Quite unlike his closest ally, charismatic and alluring head of a mighty warrior nation, called Irinarkh.

On one hand, Irinarkh's army is so unexplainably powerful that they could definitely help Gorday conquer the world. But on the other hand, his rational character keeps trying to put some sense into the burning emotions of Gorday and almost keeps him on a leash. Irinarkh is Mila’s good friend from childhood and is in love with her. She’s very interested in him too: while everyone else is desperately trying to figure out the Wheel of Life's mystery, Irinarkh is the only one who actually knows what it's for and keeps the secret of how to wield it. However, he wouldn’t just give it away even to Mila, even when she’s using her charm to try to persuade him.

Harley Quinn – Blazing Shadows tells the story of Harley’s redemption from the Joker. Taking place about five years after her breakup from the Joker, it

reveals that Harley has moved back to her hometown Brooklyn, where she grew up, and now lives in a relationship with her girlfriend, Poison Ivy. However, after all these years in her now quite “middle-class life,” she slowly starts to long for the good old days, when she robbed banks and was guided by great feelings for The Joker and had many great adventures.

As these feelings of doubts, pain and fear swirl around Harley, the audience experiences the awakening of Kitsune, the master of fire and fear. What Harley doesn’t know is that Kitsune draws his existence and power from her self-doubt. He digs deeper and deeper into Harley’s psyche until he finally meets her greatest fear: The Joker himself. For Harley, this turns into a fight against the dangerous love of the Joker. The film culminates with Harley having to decide a direction for her life. Will she remain in her new, self-determined life together with Poison Ivy or her old ego under the seductive leadership of the Joker?
