2017 was ANOTHER GREAT year at YOUR Club!

Another record membership year!

A truly dedicated Board of Directors and Officers leading the Club!

Our 80th Anniversary milestone !!!!!

I’d also like to note the following 3 special contributions to the Club:

1. Tom and Mary McLaughlin, and Nicole Dudek of Mclaughlin & Co. (now Dudek Accounting dba McLaughlin & Co.) in Sturgis graciously con-tinued their support of our financial record keeping system with in kind ser-vice of quarterly reviews, and answering questions when called upon!

2. Dr. Kristy Davis continued her consultation on emergency manage-ment and medical protocols by continuing her vigilance over out medical kits and assisting with First Aid, CPR and AED training.

3. Ron Sprowls, emergency medical trainer extraordinaire provide First Aid, CPR, and AED update training – his “mock” scenarios provided major intensity and realism to the training!

IDPA range shelters, storage space addition to the garage, new signs, a GATE that works consistently!

Plus a 5 Stand shotgun field, shotgun lighting upgrade (in progress), new Cowboy stage...I probably forgot some improvements...you get the idea!

Continuing our youth programs including 4-H, SCTP, SASP, Hunter Ed, AIM...remember, without DEDICATED volunteers, these would not happen!

ARCHERY and ATA Trap each had their best year ever!!!!

IDPA led by our great group from Indiana...fun and jocularity had by ALL (in a real-ly safe manner!)

So how can we keep this going in 2018?

Possible (probable?) addition to the Clubhouse...AIR CONDITIONING??? Maybe

Could we have yet ANOTHER record member year? Y-E-S!!!!

Paved road and parking to member pistol range???? We shall see!!

Mining our “gold mine” of lead shot and bullets? Maybe... The BOD is here to serve YOU! Let us know your thoughts; what are YOUR priorities? To paraphrase Larry Potterfield of Midway...THANKS FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP!!!

CPL & Advanced Classes 2018

In 2018 we are planning to offer CPL classes each second Saturday of the month. Weather may prevent us from starting until March, so February is still tentative at this time. These will be one day classes, either NRA Per-sonal Protection in the Home (PPITH) or the Michigan Coalition of Respon-sible Gun Owners (MCRGO) CPL Class, both of which meet the educational requirement for the Michigan CPL. Next Level Handgun Classes

These classes will follow the NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home (PPOTH) format, so people with CPL, or at least CPL training, can learn skills appropriate to carrying in public. These classes are all range time, developing skills in holstering, moving and shooting, and engaging multiple targets. These classes are listed as 101,102,103, with the intention of tak-ing them in order. Please see the dates listed below; you can take the dif-ferent sessions in different months, but must be in order. The intent is to run these on Monday evenings, about 2 hours each on the range. You will need around 200 rounds of ammo per session, a holster, and at least one spare magazine for your handgun. The carbine class goal is to reach those who own defensive rifles but might not know a lot on how to operate them. Defensive Handgun 101 4/2, 8/6, 10/1; 102 4/9, 8/13, 10/8; 103 4/16, 8/20,10/15 Carbine 101 4/23

We are also close to having “Enhanced CPL” option in Michigan. If this passes. essentially this means that with added training, a CPL holder can have a “Pistol Free Zones” exemption on their CPL. We believe that PPOTH class will be accepted as training that meets the law, and expect MCRGO to also have a class available. If so, we will schedule PPOTH clas-ses as well. However, those successfully completing DH 101,102,103 will only need to return for the PPOTH classroom session. For questions and more info, contact Jeff Brazo 269-689-0200 or any of the other trainers at the Club.
