Our Sparta Charity Fundraising Day 2012 (or Sparta Day as we like to call it) was once again a huge success (see pages 10 – 12). In fact, it was so great that our editor-in-chief and director of

Sparta, Lynette van Reenen, sent out this heartfelt e-mail soon afterwards.

“Aan al die Spartadag Spartane

Baie, baie dankie aan elkeen van julle vir julle

harde werk Saterdag. Ek voel regtig dat die

vlak van die Spartadag nog ’n kerfie gelig is.

Ek het nie gedink dat dit moontlik was nie,

want die dag was al klaar so ’n groot sukses in

die verlede, maar al my verwagtinge is oortref.

Die professionaliteit waarmee elke item

aangebied is, was baie baie indrukwekkend.

Van kliënte tot verskaffers, daar is sommer

baie komplimente uitgedeel.

Bedank asseblief elke persoon in julle

departemente wat gehelp het om hierdie dag

die sukses te maak wat dit was.

Saterdag was regtig ’n sprekende voorbeeld

van die ongelooflike Sparta-kultuur in aksie.

Our condolences go out to Willem kareebosch from deboning department on the death of his mother in January – our prayers are with you and your family.

Congratulations to Charles and Selina Lengoabala on the birth of their baby boy in January – you are very blessed and may he bring you much joy and happiness!

We are sad to report that Lawrence Seliba from deboning department died in a car accident in January – our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.

It is also with great sadness that we report that Elias Tsoeu from offal department passed away on 13 March. Our prayers are with his family and loved ones in this sad time.

Ons wil net vir Yolandé Cronje en haar dogter, Leandri, baie geluk sê met Leandri se verwerwing van haar Bsc. Graad in Fisiese en Chemiese Wetenskappe aan die Noordwes Universiteit. Leandri doen tans haar Honneurs-jaar in Biochemie en ons wens haar alle sterkte toe met haar verdere studies.

We said goodbye to Tallie Sevenster, who resigned recently and left us at the end of March – we’ll miss you Tallie.

Sparta het onlangs, in samewerking met die Departement van Gesondheid en Vrystaat Versorging in Aksie, kruidenierspakkies uitgedeel vir senior burgers in Marquard.

OF FILLET

GESTOPTE beesbraaistuk 4-6BEDIEN

Bestanddele

1kg beesvleis (heel fillet, rump of sirloin)

¾ koppie (180ml) olyfolie

Sout en peper

1 blikkie ansjovis

1 koppie basilliekruid, fyngekap

Voorbereiding

1 Voorverhit oond (180°C).

2 Maak ’n snit in die lengte van die vleis tot ongeveer die helfte van die vleis diepte.

3 Meng die ansjovis (fyngekap), ½ koppie olyfolie, basilliekruid en peper na smaak.

4 Stop die vleis op met die mengsel en bind toe met tou.

5 Smeer vleis met die res van die olyfolie en plaas in oondbak, bedek en sit in voorafverhitte oond (180°C) vir 45 minute.
