The South Pole— Official newspapers of 18th Regional Session of EYP Poland

The fact that you are reading these words, means that you would have probably undergone some serious training - the so-called “teambuilding”. It was actually a part of a plan by the evil masterminds Tea, Ola and Maciek, who had always desired their own army of young, dedicated, creative people to fulfill their dreams of a united Europe. But don’t let them brainwash you! EYP is more than playing silly games. It’s about having a go with something new, having a say, having a drink. It’s about overcoming obstacles and passing the coin, making new friends, getting a differ-ent perspective. The South Pole hopes to be there with you through all of these steps, to record and keep them for you (and tell everyone about them). You’re a star, so you better start acting like one!

Editorial

A presidential cup of Tea

The session is presided by Tea (HR), an EYPer known for her contagious laugh and love of challenges. Why in the world has she taken up such a challenge as is presiding this session? Why does she keep coming back to Poland and what are the reasons EYP is so unbelievably attractive to her? Karolina and Prezemek went out of their ways to find out that and much more.

Tea admits that she loves the ambience at the Polish sessions and when she was asked to preside the 18th Regional Session she was flat-tered and it was a kind of an achievement for her to become the leader of such a great team here in Rzeszów. For Tea EYP is a combina-tion of fun and learning. ‘What is amus-ing for me is that EYP-ers, who are ex-tremely intelligent people are not ashamed to make fools out of them-selves and participate in all the bizarre games’ says Tea about the EYP spirit. She compares Polish sessions to the Croatian ones, stating that the atmos-phere and the mentality are much alike. Her previous experiences with Poland left her with associations to it which are not quite common— first of all, awesome people, secondly special main squares in Krakow and by all means, the plastic palm tree in the heart of Warsaw.

She is proud and challenged to share her own experience with the delegates and influence their train of thought. When asked about the big-gest fear of being the president she answered that sometimes it is hard to surprise the experi-enced EYP-ers who have already been involved in sessions in various different roles.

Her own EYP journey started in 2007 and since then has only been a bumpy ride. She had no trouble choosing her most memorable ses-sion—that was the IS in Dublin, very sophisticated and with almost the greatest budget ever – ‘We

even had the chocolate fountains’, says Tea. She agrees that it wasn’t the budget that made that session so un-forgettable, it was the atmosphere and many new friends she found. The most awkward moment she ex-

perienced was at the IS in Liverpool

when she overslept and eventually got

to the committee work 5 hours late. So

dear delegates,

please, learn from

the presidential mis-

take or you are going

to have the entire

orga team on your

back!

“What is really amusing

for me is that EYPers,

who are extremely

intelligent people, are

not ashamed to make

fools out of themselves

and play bizarre games”

Unlike her warm

clothes, Tea remembered

to pack the sexy to bring it

back to Rzeszów.

EYEYEY Yes, we were quite convinced that the EYPers had some special powers which enable them to have the energy to live through

sessions without getting tired. Weronika, Giada, Marianne and Louis present you the best of the best , the glittery cards, the

one who help you win the game (or lose The Game), the one and only, the Chairsteam! Gotta catch the ball!

(Head)shots

You have only just arrived to this session, which promises to be more than awesome, and we can practically feel the excitement and moti-vation reaching their maximum. However, your beloved officials have all arrived in the past few days. So what have they been up to? The answer is simple and easy, they had their own Teambuild-ing! But instead of soft cuddly games you get to play, the officials got the chance of getting their energy out in a more brutal ways – we got to play the laser game! Each group of officials had a turn in going into a poorly lit maze with laser guns and could shoot each other all they wanted. The Journos had the first opportunity, dividing into two teams of four. For half an hour they ran around “killing” people from the other team, or, in some cases, shooting their teammates. After that, it was the Chairs’ turn. Laughter was pouring out of the room while friendships and team spirits were

strengthened. While two of the teams were sweating around in the dark basement, the oth-ers were having drinks and chatting. Everyone moved back towards the pub for a well-earned pizza and a drink or two. As the evening went on, every official got to talk to most of the officials’ team and just let the party go on.

Rules of Engagement

I, as a participant at the 18th

Regional Session of EYP Poland, solemnly

swear to honour the prestigious nature of the institution that is the Press-

room and all of its inhabitants. I swear to uphold the values upon which

it is built – mockery, utter disrespect and questionable sense of humour. I am fully aware

that my actions can and will affect the proceedings of this session, and am pleased that

there are people who will find it in their hearts to make note of it and put it on public dis-

play. I also swear upon my soul that my every move will be for the benefit of the session and

all of its participants, even if the direct benefit for me is not visible to my person at the

given moment.

I will strive to make a contribution to the well-being of the Board and their good people,

the Chairs and the Delegates, and will put aside my personal every-day issues if one of

them asks me for a hug or randomly gives me one. I accept the Orgas’ ultimate and infi-

nite power over my life, for they are the ones making my food. The fact that I have as of

now no control over who smack me on the bum is also known and acceptable to me.

Finally, I brought loads of cash, and intend to go home without it.

Let’s face it—without them, we wouldn’t be here, doing what we love most. A huge thanks to all of them, for giving all of the participants a chance to get together, and make Europe a better place, a happier

home, and a more integrated social environment for all its citizens.
