SHARKY is now supplied with radio as standard. It can be integrated into

any system environment over two separate communication interfaces, either by

radio and M-Bus – or over two M-Bus connections. SHARKY can

communicate in Real Data values or to the Open Metering Standard,

so all system components speak the same language.

Whether by radio or M-Bus, SHARKY integrates smoothly into any system environment and if required supplies the database for complex consumption pro-files in real time. Smart Metering is on its way, SHARKY is ready now.

SHARKY supplies smart data for

automatic meter reading.

The SHARKY ultrasonic meter for measu-ring heat and cooling has always stood for maximum precision with very small or large flow rates – and for sustained long-term stabil-ity. Its reliability and durability make it so cost-effective. SHARKY has proven its performance in many thousands of applications, often under extreme conditions. With the new design of HYDROMETER’s forever young classic, we have successfully optimized SHARKY again – especially in terms of its communication capability.


Innovative measuring accuracy: The unique free-beam principle eliminates noise signals and measuring errors. Only the water actually flowing through SHARKY is measured, not the air. It is also extremely accurate at flow rates above the maximum value qs. The new SHARKY can now measure return flows accurately too. The orange lines symbolize noise signals and the blue lines the signals actually measured.

Long-term service friendliness: The dynamic flow design gives dirt particles and scale no chance of settling. The natural hydrofoil principle of the reflectors creates a high flow velocity – SHARKY cleans itself. SHARKY still measures with optimum precision and long-term stability even in heavily soiled water. The grey lines indicate laminar flows; no turbulence occurs.

Precision in all nominal sizesThe complete SHARKY range in its new design offers brilliant performance – from qp 0.6 to qp 60 m3/h. Almost all nominal sizes provide outstanding precision in the dynamic range 1 : 250, and with MID approval. Even the qp 60 m³/h version of SHARKY needs only the same short measuring path – for the same accuracy. So SHARKY provides the right solution for every requirement.

Maximum efficiencyThe power consumption of the new SHARKY has been optimized again. With a battery life of up to 20 years, it has the lowest power con-sumption of any ultrasonic meter on the mar-ket. SHARKY can be read as often as required during this period using an AMR system – the integrated power monitor controls efficient long-term operation.

A SHARKY for every applicationSHARKY is perfect for use as a heat meter and as a cooling meter in air conditioning systems – and is certified to European standards (MID, K7.2). The new SHARKY is also available specifically for solar systems. So the smart ultrasonic meter ensures energy efficiency and cost-effective-ness in every application.


· Heating, cooling or combined meter for both: Cooling measurement from 5 °C, heat measurement up to 150 °C.

· Unlimited system capability: Communication in Real Data or Open Metering Protocol.

· Radio on board: The integrated radio puts the metering data online without delay.

· International standards: SHARKY sends at a frequency of 868 MHz – or as a new feature at 434 MHz too.

· Ideal for Drive-By and Fixed Network: SHARKY sends unidirectionally – without reparametrization in the field.

· Always on the air: Automatic baud rate detection ensures smooth reading.

· Individual variable: with a new data memory for variable storage intervals.

· User-friendly design: Extended display with eight digits, now with a free choice of American units of measurement as well as European.

· Easy maintenance: Simple replacement of the measuring insert without readjustment.

· Accurate for very small or large values: Selected nominal sizes in the dynamic range 1 : 250 are approved to MID.

· Up to 20 years battery life: Intelligent electronic design for extremely low power consumption – even in radio mode.

· Ideal for facility management: SHARKY can also be supplied as an option with individually programmable analogue module with two 4 mA to 20 mA output.
