St. Odilo Parish National Shrine of the Poor Souls
St. Odilo Church is the only parish in the United States dedicated to the Souls in Purgatory. It was founded and sanctioned as the Shrine of the Poor Souls by His Eminence, George Cardinal Mundelein, in 1928, with a special indulgence of 200 days granted upon each visit to the shrine.

Father’s Day Novena The greatest gift you can give anyone is the gift of the Holy Mass offered for his intention. Imagine the graces and merits that flow from the Mass. How much more the graces and merits that flow from nine celebrations of the Mass. Honor your dad, grandfathers or godfather by enrolling them in the St. Odilo Father’s Day Novena of Masses this year. The Mass will be offered on nine consecutive days, beginning on Father’s Day, June 20, in our own beautiful church. Additionally, the names of the fathers enrolled will be placed on the altar of St. Joseph for the duration of the novena. To enroll your dad, grandfathers and/or godfather, simply write their names along with your generous donation in an envelope and drop it in the collection basket at Sunday Mass, in the collec-tion boxes in the church vestibule or in the rectory mail slot. You may also send your names and donation to the rectory by U. S. Mail. For legibility, please print the names of the fathers you wish to honor and bless with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Let us pray for our fathers and ask God to reward them for their good works! Weekday Mass at 8:00 a.m. With the end of the school year, we return to our summer schedule of daily Mass. Beginning Monday, June 7, the weekday Mass will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Mondays through Satur-days. Rem em ber to m ark your calendars: w eekday Mass w ill begin at 8:00 a.m . on Mondays through Saturdays starting this week. The 6:30 morning Mass will continue to be celebrated on Mondays through Fridays as usual. Corpus Christi Today the Universal Church celebrates the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, known in English as the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. In short, we celebrate the gift of Jesus’ Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist. Holy Thursday is the first celebration of the Holy Eucharist because Jesus instituted this august Sacrament at the Last Supper on that day. However, Holy Thursday is a more somber day because it ends with Jesus going into the Garden of Gethsemane where He begins His intense suffering leading to His death on the Cross. In order to have a more joyful and uplifting feast in honor of the Holy Eucharist, the Church gave us the Solemnity of Corpus Christi after the culmination of the Great Easter Season celebrating the Glorious Resurrection of Christ the Victor. Today we praise Jesus for His gift of the Eucharist with joy and festivity, knowing that He is risen from the dead and has conquered death forever. Today is the day to renew, in the context of the Sunday Mass, our faith in and reverence for the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in every particle of the Sacred Host and every drop of the Precious Blood. Too many times Catholics receive Him in Holy Communion without the proper attention and reverence due His Sacred Presence. Too often Catholics receive Him in a state of serious sin without having first confessed. Too often, as I noted in our bulletin a few weeks ago, individuals, for some reason I can’t begin to fathom, throw His Precious Body on the floor under the pew. Today the Church cries out with one voice, “Jesus Christ is really, truly and wholly present in the Holy Eucha-rist.” Let us ever praise, reverence and adore Him in this Most Holy Sacrament. Let us receive Him with a clear conscience, a soul free of serious sin, and all the attention of our mind and heart. Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar! Fr. Bart
Novena del Día del Padre El regalo más grande que usted puede dar a cualquiera es el regalo de la Santa Misa ofrecida para su intención. Imaginen las gracias y méritos que fluyen de la Misa. Cuánto más las gracias y méritos que fluyen de nueve celebraciones de la Misa. Honre a su padre, abuelos o padrinos inscribiéndolos en la Novena del Día del Padre de San Odilo este año. La Misa será ofrecida en nueve días consecutivos, comenzando el día del Padre, 20 de junio, en nuestra hermosa Iglesia. Además, los nombres de los padres inscritos serán colocados en el altar de San José durante la duración de la novena. Para inscribir a su padre, abuelos y/o padrino, simplemente escriba sus nombres junto con su generosa donación en un sobre y póngalo en la canasta de colecta en la Misa del domingo o en las canastas de la colecta que están en el vestíbulo de la Iglesia o en el buzón de correo de la rectoría. También puede enviar sus nombres y donaciones a la rectoría por correo postal. Para legibilidad, por favor escriba con letra de molde los nombres de los padres que desea honrar y bendiga con el Santo Sacrificio de la Misa. ¡Oremos por nuestros padres y pidamos a Dios que los recompense por sus buenas obras! Misa entresemana a las 8:00 a.m. Con el fin del año escolar, volvemos a nuestro horario de verano de la Misa diaria. A partir del lunes 7 de junio, la Misa de los días entresemana comenzará a las 8:00 a.m. de lunes a sábado. Recuerde m arcar sus calendarios: La Misa de entresem ana com enzará a las 8:00 a.m. de lunes a sábado a partir de esta semana. La Misa de las 6:30 de la mañana se seguirá celebrando de lunes a viernes como de costum-bre. Corpus Christi Hoy la Iglesia Universal celebra la solemnidad del Corpus Christi, conocida en inglés como la solemnidad del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. En resumen, celebramos el don de la presencia real de Jesús en la Santa Eucaristía. El Jueves Santo es la primera celebración de la Santa Eucaristía porque Jesús instituyó este Sacramento de agosto en la Última Cena de ese día. Sin embargo, el Jueves Santo es un día más sombrío porque termina con Jesús entrando en el Jardín de Getsemaní donde comienza su intenso sufrimiento que conduce a su muerte en la Cruz. Para celebrar una fiesta más alegre y edificante en honor a la Santa Eucaristía, la Iglesia nos dio la Solemnidad del Corpus Christi después de la culminación de la Gran Temporada de Pascua, celebrando la Gloriosa Resurrección de Cristo Vencedor. Hoy alabamos a Jesús por su don de la Eu-caristía con alegría y festividad, sabiendo que ha resucitado de entre los muertos y ha conquistado la muerte para siempre. Hoy es el día de renovar, en el contexto de la Misa Dominical, nuestra fe y reverencia en la Presencia Real de Jesucristo en cada partícula de la Sagrada Hostia y en cada gota de la Preciosa Sangre. Demasiadas veces los Católicos Lo reciben en la Sagrada Comunión sin la debida atención y reverencia debido a Su Presencia Sagrada. Con demasiada frecuencia los Católicos Lo reciben en un estado de pecado grave sin haberse confesado primero. Con demasiada frecuencia, como señalé en nuestro boletín hace unas semanas, los individuos, por alguna razón no puedo empezar a entender, arrojan Su Precioso Cuerpo en el suelo bajo la banca. Hoy la Iglesia clama con una sola voz: “Jesucristo está realmente, verdadera y totalmente presente en la Santa Eucaristía.” Alabemos, reverenciamos y adoremos siempre en este Santísimo Sacramento. Pin and Ribbon Ceremony Many proud parents/guardians were in church as Fr. Bart and Mr. Donegan presented pins and ribbons to our 7th and 8th grade students. Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament immediately followed the ceremony. Congratulations to those students who are on their way to graduation!

St. Odilo Garden Ministry
The parish gardens need to be maintained and watered weekly. Volunteers are needed to accomplish this. The more volunteers we get - the less frequent the individual volunteer time will need to be. All are welcome. No experience is necessary. Parents or guardians needed for children under the age of 18. Service hours are available. Maureen Neidle will coordinate this ministry.
