Recent Events: The Lunch N’ Life on September 25th was a big

success. Thanks to Verna Jones, Director of Veterans

Affairs and Rehabilitations, who updated us on

Veterans and American Legion affairs. Thank you staff

and students of the S. John Davis School for cooking

and serving the delicious food!

Thanks to The American Legion Bicentennial Post

#1976 for hosting the Lunch N’ Life on September

25th. The hall is a lovely place to hold an event. We

greatly appreciated the organizational help and words

from manager Diane Ramsey. Thanks to everyone who

helped set up and clean up. Thanks for your dedication

and help! The winner of a Juke Box Diner gift certifi-

cate was Dick Stohr. A gift card is given away at every

Lunch N’ Life so join us and maybe you will be the

next lucky winner.

Thanks to United Baptist Church for hosting the

Adventures in Learning (AIL). The generous use of

the Fellowship Hall and Yoga room are very much

appreciated as is your continued support.

Shepherd’s Center of OAKTON-VIENNA Fun and Fashion at Talbots of Tyson’s Corner

Mall on November 19th to benefit SCOV. Free event

with refreshments, door prizes, and a personal

shopper. Help SCOV spread the word by attending

this event from 6 to 8 pm.

Shepherd’s Center of Fairfax-Burke Lunch N’ Life on Thursday, November 20,

12:00-2:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Abiding

Presence, 6304 Lee Chapel Rd, Burke, VA.

The Program will feature Jari Villaneuva, a Bugler,

speaking on The History of Taps.

It’s a Time for Giving

Donations Needed: Sleepy Hollow United Methodist

Church supports the Bailey’s Women’s Shelter.

Please save your shampoo, conditioner, and other

give-a-way items from your hotel stays. The

purchase of a few items at your local Dollar Store

would also be appreciated.

Sleepy Hollow United Methodist Church will also

host the hypothermia shelter for 3 weeks this

winter in December and January. Items needed in addition to the above: sealed tooth-

brushes, small toothpaste, hand wipes, combs, warm

socks, hats, gloves, deodorant, McDonald's gift cards,

bottled water, and snacks.

Drop of directly to the Sleepy Hollow church bin

or bring to the Lunch N’ Life on December 4th

and put in the donation box.

First Presbyterian Church of Annandale helps

Bethany House Shelter. This shelter helps women

and children in emergency situations. Items needed

include pantry items and toiletries such as diapers

sizes 4,5, and 6, large kitchen trash bags, gift cards to

CVS, Walgreens, Grocery Stores, light bulbs, and

ethnic hair care products (Pantene Relaxed etc.)

Drop off any donations to the First Presbyterian

Church box or bring to the Lunch N’ Life.

And don’t forget to donate to the Shepherd’s

Center of Annandale Springfield so we can contin-

ue our transportation program which takes people to

medical appointments and shopping. Your support

also helps promote socialization and continuing

education events.
