Humber Gateway – Met Mast

The Humber Gateway is a 219MW project located 8km off the Holderness coast, consisting of 73 turbines. It should provide enough electricity for around 170,000 homes - equivalent to around one and a half times the size of Hull. The offshore cables will bring ashore the electricity where it will adjoin the onshore cables that will run underground for approximately 30km from Easington to Salt End. Two substations, one onshore and one offshore, will be needed to step up the voltage of the electricity that is generated by the 73 Wind Turbines to connect into the National Grid.

Galloper Offshore Wind Farm – Export Cable Trenching & Mattress Works

Please be advised that from circa 15th September 2016 for approx. 14 days, Cable Support Vessel “Ndeavor” shall be operational within the Galloper Wind Farm export cable route at the following locations:

Name Cordinates KP

Concerto 1 North Cable Crossing 52°11.600'N 01°41.700'E KP:6 Concerto 1 South Cable Crossing 52°10.700'N 01°42.300'E KP:7.7 BT Farland Cable Crossing 52°04.900'N 01°47.500'E KP:20

The vessel shall be engaged in cable burial and concrete mattress laying operations within these areas and requests an advisory safety zone of 500m. Ndeavor will not have any anchor pattern deployed. All operations shall be on Dynamic Positioning (DP) with the vessel displaying the correct day shapes and night lights for the operation. Ndeavor can be contacted on VHF 16 if required. Export cable installation is progressing well at Galloper Offshore Wind Farm. Cable Lay Vessel Ndurance is clear of the near shore area (currently 6 nautical miles offshore) and moving along the proposed export cable route towards the offshore array. As the vessel is utilising an anchor spread for positioning and is now within an area of regular shipping, the vessel has requested that all marine traffic avoid Ndurance by at least 1 nautical mile where possible. Supporting the anchor handling operations are the vessels: Dutch Power and Viking. MPI Sampson is providing crew transfer facilities between the vessel and the Port of Lowestoft. It is expected to be approx. end of September before Ndurance reaches the offshore array. Dutch Power shall also be continuing with Pre Lay Grapnel Run (PLGR) works ahead of the cable installation operation. The vessel shall be towing a grapnel arrangement in order to clear the seabed of debris. Dutch Power requests a wide berth when carrying out PLGR. From 10th September 2016, Glomar Avior shall be infield assisting Ndurance with guard vessel duties. All vessels can be contacted on VHF 16 if required.

Hornsea Two Offshore Wind Farm – Geotechnical Investigations

Mariners are advised that Hornsea Project Two has completed all geophysical site investigation works. Geotechnical investigations are still planned and works are expected to commence 30 July 2016 The geotechnical survey area is located within the UK Sector of the North Sea off the coast of East Yorkshire The geotechnical operations will commence on the 05 August 2016 and run for approximately 10 weeks. The exact finish date is dependent on the prevailing weather conditions, vessel downtime and work progress, but the forecasted completion date as of the publication date of this notice is the end of October 2016. The geotechnical vessels will be deploying seabed drilling and testing equipment. This will require them to be in DP and remain stationary for periods of up to 18 hours at a time and will restrict their ability to manoeuvre. It will be requested that all vessels operating within the area keep a safe distance (1000m) and pass at minimum speed to reduce vessel wash.

Barrow & Walney 1 & 2 Export Cables – Survey

A Geophysical survey to establish the burial depth along the whole length of both the BARROW OFFSHORE WIND FARM EXPORT CABLE and the WALNEY 1 & 2 EXPORT CABLES is continuing when weather conditions allow. This survey is being carried out by two vessels, the 14.7 meter Catamaran vessel ‘DEEP VOLANS’ and the 5.2 meter ‘DEEP PURPLE’. ‘DEEP VOLANS’ will cover the offshore sections of the cables while ‘DEEP PURPLE’ will cover the sections close to the shore, the survey is expected to last until the end of September, depending on weather and conditions As both survey vessels will be using highly sensitive equipment, depth-of-burial/ORION DoBstar, sub-bottom profiler, Bathymetric (Multi-Beam Echo Sounders) and Side Scan Sonar, a wide berth minimum 500 meters, is requested at all times whenever the vessels are on site and passing vessels are requested to reduce speed if possible. Fishermen using pots are requested move any gear away from the EXPORT CABLES during this survey as ‘DEEP VOLANS’ will at times be using an R.O.V.
