Water is one of the greatest keystones of the

environment.

As a result, water quality effects health of the people

and the success of the economy.

It is imperative that we keep our waters clean or else disease will spread

throughout all forms of life.

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AFFECTED

EPA has set legal limits for contaminants in

drinking water which protect human health.

EPA provides a list of acceptable techniques

for treating contaminated water.

Individual states enforce their own

drinking water standards (must be as

strong as EPA’s national standard).

There are set water-testing schedules and methods that must be

followed.

EPA also set a maximum contaminant

level goal (MCLG). Below this level there is no known or expected

risk to health.
