Introduction

• The Royal Commonwealth Pool was built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games

• The City and their designers were committed to providing a facility for the long term benefit of the people in Edinburgh

• It was again used to host the Commonwealth Games in 1986

• The building is a grade A listed building with Historical Scotland due to its architectural importance

• The building closed in June 2009 for a £37 million pounds refurbishment

• Re opening again in March 2012 for the people of Edinburgh
