The role of Relief India Trust in empowering woman The term empowerment of woman refers to the social and economic betterment of woman. The status of woman varies from region to region. In the rural India, gender discrimination, poverty, violence, oppression are some of the main wide-spread problems women have been facing for decades. In the modern world the role of woman in economic activities is widely acknowledged. Ironically, in developing countries like India, a large portion of the total woman population has been treated as merely a commodity. The Relief India Trust has been working hard for years to empower women in India. Women can play an equally effective role in the development of the country. In fact, without the participation of women in economic activities, it is impossible for any economy to grow at a rapid pace. Challenges faced by women in rural areas:There are so many challenges women have been facing, especially in the rural areas. Approximately fifty percent of the population consists of women. The fact has gained the currency in the last couple of decades that woman is as mentally equipped and strong as of man. Cases of rape, physical torture are heard at daily basis. The disempowered class of women usually suffers identification crisis. They are not well aware of their rights and status in the society. A multiple forms of violence are reported in the households. Perpetual state of oppression makes them slaves. The role of women is not at all limited merely to home. The awareness campaigns of Relief India Trust instills motivation and courage in uneducated women to come forward and fight for their rights.

Special focus on female children:At the rehabilitation centers of Relief India Trust, special attention is given to the female children. They are provided with the quality educational facilities so that in future they can realize their status and rights. No society can progress without the active participation of women.
