Conclusions
• Takeaway food has increased in UK and worldwide.
• Poor nutritional profile, but variable in key nutrients.
• Concordant with CVD, type 2 diabetes risk and incidence.
• Biochemical mechanisms for obesity and cardiometabolic risk.
• More evidence needed as likely high amount of confounding.
• Policy required for significant changes, e.g. reformulation.
