On a more positive note, the kitchenand diningroom are well underway intheir reorganization. The commissarycommittee will be preparing themeals for the next Reunion, with asmall fee for the membership. Wewill still need additional personnel togrow this committee.

The Preservation Association issponsoring the Scottish Rite YouthWind Ensemble. This is in support ofthe public schools as well as gettingthe general public to see more of ourbeautiful Cathedral. I hope by now that our membershiphas become better informed of ourfinancial situation. We hadapproximately 100 members ina t t e n d a n c e f o r o u r g e n e r a lmembership meeting to discussed the

and 2006 Budget. Ihad hopes for a larger attendance.

We are in the process of taking severalsteps in the of thes p and hopefully settingour Valley on a new course. It will bepainful for many of us, but it isnecessary, and I am sure we need toproceed at this time.

In this issue of the RiteWay you willfind the 2006 budget. I am sure willbe make small adjustments as weapproach the end of the year. I amconcerned about how the energy costmay affect us next year. We are alsotrying to keep the payroll in check andwill depend on the membership tohelp defer cost this next year.

Our member fee structure has beenrevised. Adjusted for inflation ourfees are still lower than the last timethe dues structure was reviewed.

Our office staff is very busy justkeeping up with the paperwork anddeveloping a new customer base atprices which reflect the value of ourproperty. We will not be able tosupport club activities as we have inthe past. Clubs, committees, andbodies will have to do their own workwith a minimum of support (bothlabor and money) from the office.

All that said we do plan to improveo u r c o m m u n i c a t i o n s t o t h emembership. Brother Kurt Witzelhas been appointed to organize thecommunications of the Valley. Wewill improve the information in theRiteWay, website and plan to increasethe use of electronic communication. If you have an email address, pleaseinsure that the Scottish Rite office hasit in your profile. You will receive upto date information on events andnews without the additional cost tothe Valley. If you ve email but haveaccess to a computer visit the website,www.scottishrite-stl.org, where wewill attempt to keep you informed of

LookingForward

The KCCH Association will havean important meeting this duringthe fall reunion.

Our “Draft” By-Laws weremailed out to every member lastmonth and I hope that everyonehas had an opportunity to reviewthem before our meeting. Youwill see that we have been given achallenge to develop programsEducation and training programsfor the Valley. This new directionis an important part of the ValleyStrategic Plan. It is also a projectwe should be able to succeed at.

This year we will elect ourofficers for the next two years.Your vote is important. Pleasemake an extra effort to attendthis important meeting. DickSmith, Ronnie Green and TimWangelin were appointed toserve on the nominat ingCommittee.

Once again, each one of us tomake a commitment of time, talent and energy to further theideals and goals of the ScottishRite.
