    1. In News We Trusted-Television journalism get to a place were showing a singers digitalized.

    -At the point did these defenders of the public trust, these believers in truth,

    honesty.

    -Television journalism is at a critical stage in its history.

    -The crisis of confidence in journalism, particulary television news, applies to all

    levels

    -You could rely on what was being reportred on ABC, CBS, or NBS.

    -Robert Wiener, who as executive producer for CNN in Baghdad.

    2. The Way Here And Rarely are today

    - Provided people with extraordinary access to information and breathtaking

    events around the planet and beyond.

    -A nation was glued to television sets, a presidential election hanging in the

    balance, during the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979

    -Journalism are expections to the daily rule, the daily fare

    -To borrow a beer commercials line, television news today generally looks good,but its less filling.

    -once news was the star ; now the stars are the stars

    -And more and more on-air journalist are collecting multimillion dollar

    paychecks and being treated like celebrities rather than as journalists.

    -When the increasingly rare example of the good solid journalism is seen on

    television screens these days.

    -News employees are deliberately insulated from the more mercenary aspects of

    broadcasting-demographics.

    -They were serving the public in a selfless manner

    -Journalist who lived though the early days recall a sense of honor, a sense of

    pride that they were serving the public in an honorable way that kept democracy

    strong and vibrant.

    -By the mid-1970s, news was making money for all of the networks.

    -Exactly how much theyre earning, however, is often difficult to pin point.

    -The parent corporations dont report separate numbers for their news

    divisions.

    -News can definitely be a profitable business, but it will always be so much more

    than that. It is a critical pillar of democracy, a public service.

    -We are providing a fundamental benefit that keeps the public informed and

    -As Journalists, it is our civic duty, our social responsibility to protect this

    4. The Cost Of Making Money

    -The financial imperatives have also resulted in cutting professional corners.

    -Adding entertainment to news, and getting rid of older correspondens in favor

    of younger, more attractive ones.

    -If to achieve higher ratings also means going after the majority of viewers.

    -The single aim was, and is, this : attracting more viewers, preferably younger or

    more affluent ones, to the news programs for longer periods of time.

    - Before the end of the year, the networks will try to get back on budget by

    cutting expenses any way they can.

    - The program anchors did all of their on-camera.

    5. Corporate Systems

    - Part of the fallout from megacorporations owning network and news.

    - Cross pollination is an attempt to collect money.

    -CNN launch programs such as CNN and Time and CNN and Fortune.

    -Cross promotion having the separate entities within the corporation work

    together on projects.

    6. Infotainment, Celebrity, and Sex

    - The intrusion of entertainment into news in considered an epidemic.

    - The infection started long ago and has taken years to become trutly

    threatening.

    -There have been many more of these entertainment pseudo-news stories over

    the years.

    -Since 1955 they have all been measured by the O.J. Simpson meter.

    7. The Colors Of Patriotism : Red, White, Blue, and Green.

    -The past few years have seen the rise of yet another worrisome trend that is

    counter to the tenets of professional and responsible journalism.

    -A new and different of what is considered patriotic in the media.

    -In their wisdom, the writers of the First Amendment sought to endow a free

    press with the duty and responsibility of being government watchdog.

    -No elected official or political party should be given preference ; al should be

    monitored with the same critical eye.

    8. Bias And For Bigger Audience

    -The success of fox has resulted in a fight- particulary at CNN and MSNBCforthe typical fox viewer, at the expense of truly fair and balanced.

    -MSNBC learned that lesson the hard way.

    - In an extreme effort to lure conservative viewers, the cable network hired

    right-wing talk show host Michael Savage, who was well known for gay bashing.

    -Congrest, Journalist, associations and lobbyist on all sides joined the heated and

    prolonged debate.

    -On-air correspondents and anchors are, indeed, part of the problem.

    -People with the real power, the real authority, are the news and corporate

    executives news organization.
