CALL OUT FOR WATER SAFETY Orientation day is Sun Nov 3, and our Woodside Nippers are about to hit the water. Water Safety personnel play a vital part in the delivery of the Woodside Nipper Program both on Sundays and training days. If you hold a SRC/Bronze Medallion or above and can spare an hour each Sunday or Tuesday afternoon I would love to hear from you. Being in the water with the Nippers each week and watching them progress with both their surf skills and confidence is loads of fun and very rewarding. And you get to wear a VERY cool orange rashie. Cheers Chris Ficko Water Safety Co-Ordinator 0409 292 263 [email protected]

Nippers

Red caps U13 & Dark Blue caps U12 are on beach set up and pack away – this is an extra, that has not been listed on the calendar, thanks to these groups for doing extra. You’re awesome. We are still after weekly support for the Woodside Nippers Sunday program – especially for U6, U12 and U13. If you would love to get on board and support the kids, please contact me asap at [email protected] Officials for arenas – this year ASLSC is aiming to use the skill and expertise of our young Seniors who have ‘graduated’ from Nippers. The aim is to have a team of expert officials at each arena to manage the skills component of the arena. This will benefit all the Nippers coming through and give the young Seniors a leadership role and the opportunity to complete their Officiating course. If you would like to be involved, email me your name, number and special skill set (preference of arena) to [email protected] ASAP.

Canteen

The canteen will be open on Sunday ready to feed all our

hungry, hungry members!

As this week does not have a normal rostered cap colour,

any donations of cakes, slices, muffins or any other goods

for our canteen to sell will be greatly appreciated. All funds

raised go straight back to our great club.

Rainbow Coast Carnival November 23rd/24th 2019, Bremer Bay

We have made some changes to our annual Bremer Bay weekend and you are all invited! In keeping with the spirit of the weekend, the Albany, Denmark and Esperance Surf Life Saving clubs have been working collaboratively to implement some changes to the Rainbow Coast Weekend. We have had one key objective: To increase event opportunities for senior, nipper and youth to ensure maximum participation and broaden carnival competition experience for our ALL members in a friendly atmosphere... it's that simple! So what are the changes? Sat Pm | Sunday Am Full Carnival experience for ALL members! Program will be announced soon. Clubs are working together to finalise participation number to ensure we put in place an awesome program of events for all ages. What we can confirm (and are pretty excited about) are additional events outside of the usual program

• Surf Boats • IRB racing • Ski's • Ironman | Team event ( for all ages!)

SLSWA We have been worked closely with SLSWA who are very supportive of the changes and new program structure. We are very pleased to announce that SLSWA have secured the following to support the weekend:

• Mullaloo IRB team (current state champions) • Alexis Grayson (beach coach and official assessor) • Mickey Hall (beach athlete and youth official) • Wes Gould (Kellogg's Ironman who last week finished 11th in the Coolangatta Gold) • Andrew Mosel

The IRB team will be giving a workshop and demonstration of IRB racing (they can also demonstrate how to correctly set up water arena buoys) Alexis Grayson and Andrew Mosel can sign off officials at the carnivals if the online modules are completed prior. All athletes will provide feedback to the athletes and coaches during the carnival and events and assist with warm ups supporting an event based coaching focus. It is also anticipated that all athletes will jump in a few of the races. This race based coaching is a key driver of change from clubs! But wait.... there is more!

How do you register? The registration process for the weekend will be announced shortly. So don't dilly dally and get yourself organised ... this is a weekend not to be missed! Check out next weeks RIP for more details!

SKI TRAINING

There is no official ski training yet but there is certainly a lot being done. If you have been around the club lately, you may have noticed a lot more muscle amongst the ski's, that's right, some of those burly boaties have taken to the ski's and looking very intimidating. However, don't let that put you off and give us a call if you want some more information for training.

For any information on the above please don't hesitate to call Jason Bresanello on 0422925350

SLSWA Statewide Fundraising – BeachSAFE Appeal BeachSAFE Street Appeal The BeachSAFE Street Appeal is Surf Life Saving WA's (SLSWA) primary community fundraising activity. The Street Appeal activity not only raises funds from people in our community for essential lifesaving activities in WA, but the presence of our members in the public also raise awareness of the important role Surf Lifesaving plays in the community and creates opportunities for long term support. It is a chance for our volunteers to head out into our community and all funds collected during the street appeal are allocated and directed to the club responsible for collecting the funds. Boardies Day October 2019 – March 2020

SLSWA will be targeting schools and businesses to "pick a day" in summer to hold Boardies Day at their school or workplace. Registrations to participate will be able to be made online at www.boardiesdaywa.com.au. As well as wearing boardies to raise funds, options such as wearing a piece of red or yellow clothing, or another item of beach attire such as a hat etc. or simply putting on a morning tea at their workplace for a gold coin donation are encouraged. The idea is to engage audiences but lets them choose an appropriate way

to participate.

Clubs are encouraged to secure workplaces, schools, childcare centres etc. to get involved in the initiative. Registrants can nominate the Club they wish their funds to be directed to. All funds designated for a specific Club are 100% allocated and directed to the club nominated. To assist Clubs in promoting Boardies Day, SLSWA will provide digital resources to help clubs engage with local businesses or schools.
