Our students continue to make us proud. That being said it should also be noted that we not only do well academically our students leave us with marks of good character. Feedback from several Schools continue to suggest that Renaissance’s approach of nourishing the body, mind, heart and sprit is well appreciated. Our students continue to stand out. New Staff As part of our long term development, over the next year or two we will be increasing the staffing. Some of these new members will serve as class teachers, assistant teachers and support staff. This term we have three new members joining us. It is expected that you will get a chance to meet them at the next parents evening. Greetings from Renaissance… Dear Parent / Guardians, I am pleased to welcome you back for another term and the new academic year. As tradition holds we are also welcoming a number of new children and parents to the Renaissance family. We are honoured that you have place your trust and confidence in our Institution. With the start of a new academic year it is always useful to remind ourselves of some basic points of our operation and to update you of any developments. We will attend to a few here and will expand at the next parents evening. ……………………………………………………………………….. Parents Evening Every term Renaissance will organize several activities where parents get a chance to come together as one body. Parents evening is one of these opportunities. It is an evening for the parents to come together giving you an opportunity to meet the other parents and staff, and would help strengthen the school community. You will also have an opportunity to meet as a group with the class teacher and be brought up to date on the classroom activities and how you may assist your child’s learning and school activities. It would be great if you can attend the next parents evening showing your support for the class teacher and the school as a whole.

Academic Year 2018-2019 | Term 1 | Vol 1 - Issue 1

Academic Performance

SEA 2018 - It is well known that we again ended the last academic year with excellent SEA results.

Drop off and Dismissal

Parents are reminded that for drop off on mornings if you would be staying longer to visit the office or a teacher you should use the car park across from the office building. For quick drop off you can come up to the gate or park on Gordon street and walk the child to the gate. If it is raining you can bring them to the front door. Please leave room for the children to enter or exit the gate way. Since the start of this term we received several complaints from our neighbours, of parents parking in front of their driveway for long periods or refusing to move their vehicle when asked. We would like to return to the Renaissance tradition where our children, staff and parents are courteous to our neighbours.

Receiving the Children You would have recognized that since we moved to Gordon street on a daily basis there are teachers by the gate to receive the children. This is to ensure that the children are received safely onto the compound. Please note that under no circumstance parents or drivers are to drop children outside the closed or lock gate without the guard or teacher to receive them. On several occasions the staff arrived, only to be greeted by children waiting outside the gate. Please ensure that this is not the case for your child.

Ramayana Production

As you know, we aim for quality at Renaissance and it is by that standard that unfortunately we would need to push our production to the 4th of December 2018. Some of you may have had to adjust your plans during the this mid-term to facilitate the show, and we apologize for the inconvenience. However, there were a number of factors that contributed to this change. We were unable to meet the quality that is intended, since many children could not come out for the practice during the July and August. Additionally some parents were unable to change their commitments for the month of October during our midterm break indicating that the children would not be able to participate. There is also a need to recast a few performers. These are some of the factors that contributed to the change.

Do note that the mid-term will remain as scheduled however we would like to use a day or two for practice to refine the production. The production team will confirm the day or days next week. On behalf of the staff we do apologize for this change but it is has become necessary to maintain the standard fitting of a Renaissance production.

Attached to this issue is the schedule for the academic year 2018-2019. Details of the activities for the rest of this term will be shared by your child’s class teacher. Also note that our next parent evening is scheduled for the 12th October at 4:30 pm, I do hope to see you all there.

I thank you for your continued support and confidence in Renaissance and looking forward to working with you in the coming year.
