The tsunami started at the west-coast of Indonesia and the tsunami killed nearly 200,000 people in eleven countries and the waves were about 30 metres high. They estimated that it traveled for more than 3,000 miles.

It travelled from Sumatra to Somalia, Madagascar, Bangladesh, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Malaysia, Western Australia and a few other places.

Tsunamis can make a lot of damage to towns. They can kill people by drowning them, move debris and damage vehicles. After a tsunami the city or town effected would be flooded.
