The Red Cross Red Crescent
in
Tuberculosis control
Lasha Goguadze
Senior Health Officer, Health and Care Department
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
“The Movement" is a term covering two international institutions with
headquarters in Geneva and National Societies in 185 countries.
The two institutions are the International Committee of the Red Cross
(ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red
Crescent Societies (the International Federation). The National
Societies comprise most of the more than 97 million Red
Cross workers - the world's biggest volunteer force.
“Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are
showing that millions of sick people can be reached
and cured, in poor or remote settings. We believe
such involvement from civil society is essential if
we are to make inroads in tackling Tuberculosis“
