What is the Stomata? Stomata are

microscopic pores found on the under side of leaves. You will find the stomata in the epidermal tissue. The stomata is bounded by two half moon shaped guard cells that function to vary the width of the pore. Each guard cell contains chloroplasts. As the glucose concentration of the cells change with photosynthetic activity, the guard cells regulate the opening and closing of the stoma.

Why Do Plants Have Stomata?Stomata are the responsible part of the plant for the assimilation and exchange of energy. They are often less than 1/1,000 of an inch thick. As you look at the anatomy of a leaf, it is easy to see how various materials are brought to the leaf so that they can form the food. The stomata is the way in which this transfer of ingredients can occur. Some of these materials are gaseous( carbon dioxide), some are liquid ( water ), and one is energy ( sunlight, electro-magnetic, acoustics, RF, ultra-sound, mechanical vibration). These materials are transferred and exchanged from the surrounding atmosphere into and out of the plant. The alteration in the size of the stomata occurs in response to a variety of the external stimuli, but especially electro-acoustical energies. Agri-Sonics Opens the Plant’s Stomata for Optimum Photosynthesis The response to Light, electro-magnetic and acoustical energies reaching the plant causes the guard cells swell, causing the pore to be at its widest. When the guard cell swells and is full of water the Stomata is in a condition called Turgid. At this point optimum CO2 diffuses into the leaf and into the cells to be assimilated in photosynthesis and equally important allows water vapor to diffuse out of the leafIn the dark or in the absence of electromagnetic or acoustics the cells remain closed and empty of water. This is called flaccid or non-turgid. This condition also occurs under drought conditions and even cold or freezing. When the guard cells are not full of water (not-turgid), the stomata are closed and no photosynthesis takes place. Opening of the stomata not only allows CO2 to diffuse into the leaf, but allows water vapor to diffuse out of the leaf.
