Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

RAINS AND HARVESTSDeuteronomy 11:14

That I will give [you] the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn (grain), and thy wine, and thine oil.

Two great seasonal rains – first/latter.Two great harvest seasons – fall/spring.Rains and harvests were inseparable. One was the precursor of the other.No rain - no harvest.Pentecost was in spring/grain (barley-wheat) harvest.It never rains in Israel outside of the seasons.

PENTECOST CELEBRATED AT SINAI

1. Giving of the Commandments.2. Supernatural manifestations.

Presence of God was evidenced by:- the voice of the trumpet and sound- thundering- lightning- thick clouds- fire- God answering by a voice- 3000 people affected (judged)

Receive the Holy Ghost/Tongues but miss Pentecost

In the Church today we tend to associate receiving the

Holy Ghost only with speaking in other tongues.

In the Early Church it was connected with what the Feast

of Pentecost which was associated with:

1. Rain for gathering in the Harvest.

2. Commandments given.

3. Supernatural manifestations.

JESUS MODELED AND LIVED IT

John 1:29-34 The Holy Spirit came upon Jesus.

1.John 2:23-25 In Jerusalem witnessing2.John 3:22,23 In Judaea witnessing.3.John 4:3-5 In Samaria witnessing.

PATTERN:- Power- Witnessing- Outward bound

WHAT IS GOD WAITING FOR?James 5:7

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Matthew 9:37,38Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly [is] plenteous, but the labourers [are] few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and [then] cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white (ripe) already to harvest.
