Dear Parents, I hope that you all had a wonderful winter holiday. We look forward to working with you this semester to approach the New Year with purpose for our students. Congratulations to all our students who have maintained exceptional grades and conduct first semester. Students will be recognized for achievement at our awards ceremony at the end of the school year for semesters 1 and 2. Congratulations to Rayna Daniher for being selected to participate in the All-State Honors Orchestra and to Angelica Rosado for being selected to participate in All-State Honors Band on January 11th. Congratulations also to all of our 14 students whom were selected to participate in All-County Chorus, Orchestra, or Band at The King Center in Melbourne. The performances on Saturday, January 25th were top-notch performances and our Generals really shined. Congratulations and thank you to Ms. Reetz, Ms. Doyle, and Mrs. Sperr for their unending dedication to our music programs! This February we look forward to continuing this momentum with a calendar full of activities to help our students learn, grow, and develop. We are gearing up for FSA assessments. Our 7th and 8th grade students will take the writing portion of the FSA on April 1st this year. The FSA’s, the 8th grade Florida State Science Assessment, and EOC’s for Algebra, Geometry and Civics are quickly approaching. The testing window begins on May 1st through May 28th. Please check our web-site on a regular basis to find out what specific assessments your child will be taking and when. There will also be reminders though Blackboard Connect calls and emails. If you have any questions regarding the testing process, please call our front office. It is important that you are well well-informed of the testing schedule and that we answer any questions that you may have. Please encourage your students to begin practicing on the FSA web-site as much as possible. The practice site can be found on our school’s web-site. In addition, our teachers are available for help sessions before school. We will celebrate professionals on February 14th with Tied Together and career exploration for all students. Our 7th grade boys will attend Tied Together where they will meet professional men, learn to tie ties, and other valuable soft skills. All students will participate in career exploration and we are still looking for volunteers to share careers with students. If you are interested or know someone, contact Laura Moxley at AJMS. Also on February 14th & 15th is Science Fair at Merritt Square Mall and Band solo & ensemble at Viera HS. Good luck to our participating students! Track season has already begun. NJHS Information This month the National Junior Honor

Society will be assisting Pennies for

Patients to help raise money for the

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

NJHS are selling paper blood droplets

for 50 cents before school on Mondays

and Tuesdays throughout February.

1st period teachers will be competing

by collection donations, both online

and in class. Wednesdays will have

special sales and activities at lunch, so

save those pennies!

The PTO is selling beautiful wooden roses for Valentine's Day! Students may purchase roses for $1.00 each for friends or teachers. Students need to know the HOMEROOM of the students they are sending the roses to when they purchase them. All roses will be delivered to students on Friday February 14th at end of day in homeroom. Volunteers will be on the patio during lunches the following days for students to purchase roses on:

Our annual Tied Together event for all 7th grade males takes place on February

14th. The students will learn how to tie a tie, give a proper handshake and make eye contact. Thanks to all the male role models who have volunteered to help with this event.

Congratulations to Merry Maids, Altman Cooling and Heating and e-Angels. These three businesses were nominated for the partners in the business of education awards and will be honored at the annual luncheon on February 12th.
