As you know IOP is the only modifiable risk factor for glaucoma, therefore accurate mea-surement of IOP is CRITICAL for proper diagno-sis and management.

The Goldmann tonometer and all other to-nometers, are influenced by corneal proper-ties that can affect the accuracy of measured IOP values by as much as 17mmHg in normal eyes and more than 20mmHg in eyes with corneal topography. The Reichert 7CR gets around this problem by taking corneal prop-erties into consideration providing a Corneal Compensated IOP (IOPcc) which is a pressure measurement that is less affected by the cor-

nea than other methods of tonometry.

The Goldmann Tonometer has long been con-sidered standard of care for measuring pres-sure, but its accuracy is widely questioned today. When applied to individual patients, corneal thickness IOP “correction” formulas present a 40% chance of adjusting the IOP in the WRONG DIRECTION!

The patented Reichert IOPcc technology is clinically far superior to GAT, other NCTs, and iCare because it is more associated with Glau-coma risk, status of glaucoma and glaucoma progression. It is also superier to GAT because it is faster, not operator dependent and sterile.
