In 1988, Rentrak revolutionized the home entertainment

industry when they introduced the Pay Per

Transaction® (PPT®) revenue sharing model to

independent video retailers across the country. In

February 2015, Vobile, Inc. acquired Rentrak’s Pay Per

Transaction® distribution business. Through PPT, video

retailers are given monthly access to a wide selection of

box office hits, independent releases and foreign films

from the industry’s leading suppliers. By providing

retailers the opportunity to acquire new inventory in the

same manner as major national chains, PPT enables

retailers everywhere, regardless of size, to increase

both the depth and breadth of their inventory, and

therefore satisfy customer demand and compete

effectively in the marketplace.

The PPT Advantage

WHAT IS PPT®?

Vobile’s PPT model enables participating video retailers

to have new release movies delivered right to their store

for a low, one-time cost (fees range from $0 to $2), most

titles are $1.50 or less. Rental movie revenue is then

shared between the retailer and the studio or supplier

with whom the movie is distributed.

After as little as 28 days, retailers can begin selling these

units as “previously viewed” inventory. Sales revenue is

shared between the retailer and studio or supplier. Once

the 182-day lease term has concluded, retailers can

either return the remaining units or buy them at a fraction

of the retail cost (typically $0 to $1.25).

Under the PPT arrangement, retailers can expect to pay

between $8 to $12 per-unit for the theatrical titles and

$6 to $8 for direct to video titles, a fraction of the cost of

using a wholesale distributor where units generally cost

between $18 and $22-plus.

Vobile’s Pay Per Transaction® (PPT®) system gives video retailers

monthly access to a wide selection of box office hits, independent

releases and foreign films from the industry’s leading suppliers. As a

PPT® customer, you can meet peak demand with more variety and a

larger quantity of titles for the same budget. This breadth and depth

gives video retailers a competitive edge over other rental sources

like kiosks, streaming services or by-mail subscriptions.

� Grow your profits. There is a minimal upfront cost-per-unit and your store gets the majority of the rental revenue. This results in profit after just one or two rentals per copy.

� Take advantage of the exclusive window over by-mail and kiosk by stocking more New Releases and meeting peak customer demand before the titles are even available from these other sources.

� Pay as the product rents. Instead of paying the full wholesale cost up front and trying to eventually recoup that investment, let your customers buy your movies for you as you pay with each rental.
