E-commerce now accounts for 15% of the market and is expected to reach 20 to 25% by 2020. Eram has built a di-gital transformation plan: «Digital now takes an ever more significant place in the shopping journey,» declares Renaud Montin, Director, Marketing and Digital. «Challenged by these changes as an historic brand, Eram had to reinvent itself. We searched for new infrastructures and have re-designed our businesses to transform e-commerce into a powerful channel.»To ensure the success of its digital transformation, Eram partnered with an e-commerce consulting agency. It ap-peared Eram needed to create a clean and structured product catalog to improve its e-commerce performance: «The PIM turned out to be THE solution to meet our e-commerce challenges.»

The Customer Experience becomes critical to the digi-tal transformation strategy launched by Eram. This com-prehensive strategy is outlined by Renaud Montin: «The evolution of the shopping journey has changed. It begins on the Internet and ends in the store. These changes re-

quire that we adapt so our customers can gain the best shopping experience, regardless of the channel. The PIM is at the heart of the strategy developed to maximize the shopping experience. We firmly believe the customer is the same whether on the Internet or in a store. Centrali-zing product and customer information, and easily distri-bute it across all channels, allows us to offer a clean and consistent experience to the consumer, at any stage of the shopping journey. To achieve this objective, the PIM is a powerful tool! «

Three key elements convinced Eram to choose Akeneo PIM. «Choosing an open-source solution was among our criteria.» A first good point for Akeneo. «Our exchanges went smoothly, and the trust we built gave us peace of mind to engage in this partnership,» explain Renaud Mon-tin and Julien Paillat. «The speed of integration was also a highlight of Akeneo PIM. Only three months were needed to integrate the solution!

Eram gathered all stakeholders involved in the PIM inte-gration project. The e-commerce department defined the functional specifications and monitored the progression of the predefined strategy.

IT leadership ensured proper communications between existing information systems and the PIM. End-users were considered stakeholders as well: the web merchandising team. «Thanks to the usability and web environment of Akeneo PIM, the team was quickly brought up to speed!

Today the team directly integrates product data in the PIM, which drives high productivity and provides much better control over data quality, a critical requirement for Eram,» explains Julien Paillat.

In the end, 3,000 product references were integrated fas-ter than initially planned. “We were surprised by the speed of execution on this project. This is very structuring for the company. Integration took only 3 months”.

Project

The efforts undertaken by Eram for its digital transforma-tion strategy, including the implementation of Akeneo PIM, provided concrete results. Traffic, conversion rates and average shopping cart, three KPIs dear to the Marketing and E-commerce department, have increased as a result. The productivity of internal teams has also improved. “We are really satisfied with Akeneo PIM. It completely meets our production needs, makes us more agile, more flexible... These are significant advantages for e-commerce!”

These benefits now allow Eram to boast a 2-digit growth for e-commerce... and consider adding more channels in the future: «We are really satisfied with Akeneo PIM. We are aware that we are not using our PIM solution to its full potential yet, but this first implementation gives us confi-dence for the future, and we are now looking at integrating other channels,» concludes Renaud Montin.
