Pam Jernigan, Textile Artist – January Speaker Pam Jernigan will be speaking to us about her jour-ney as a landscape quilt artist. She has many beautiful samples that she will be sharing with us. She started out with landscape quilts and has transitioned into using fabrics and other fibers to make textile art piec-es. Pam will explain her methods and inspirations to achieve the looks she has envisioned. We look forward to seeing everyone at our meeting to welcome Pam and learn from her experiences.
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. First, let me thank you for the privilege to be your presi-dent for 2017. Second, thank you to all of the ones who have agreed to be on the board. And third, I want to thank all the committee chairs that have agreed to serve. It is so important to have good people. I appreciate you all so much. It was great to have all of the slots filled before the year started. This way we all can start the new year together. We have some great speakers and workshops lined up for this year. I hope you will take advantage of them. I just received my book from Gyleen Fitzgerald titled Bricks,Cobblestones, And Pebbles. I can't wait to try one of her new projects. As we plan for the coming year, let’s do our best to start by meeting a new member each month and get to know them. As our bee party was shopping in Old Town Spring we met a lovely lady named Joanne from Deer Park. We invited her to the guild. I can't wait for you all to meet her. See you Jan 2. Connie Litteer

Just want to start by saying thanks to Doris Scarbrough for all her hard work on the Christmas Block Exchange this year. I hope everyone enjoyed getting their variety of new Christmas blocks. I know I did! We are going to do the exchange again this year. We had good participation with some gorgeous blocks created. I hope to have more join in the fun in 2017! I will start accepting blocks in January. We’ll keep the same parameters as last year – 12 ½ unfinished and must be square to this measurement. We had some beautiful, creative blocks this year so we will ask again that we eliminate rails, four patches and nine patches. So get creative! I know most of you (if not all of you) have way more experience than I do, but if anyone is in need of a pattern, let me know. We still have lots of Christmas fabric available so if anyone needs fabric, I will have a container there every month. Please put your name on each block you turn in so I can be sure to give you credit. This also will help when sorting them to hand out in December. The last month to turn them in will be November and you will receive a package in December with the same number of blocks as you turned in for the year. I may add a little contest to our exchange. If I can work out the details by January, I will share then, so stay tuned! I look forward to seeing all the creative blocks and getting to know all of you better! If you have questions, you can contact me at 832-914-6651 or [email protected]
