Messages from Fr Prem: I must be true to myself, a moto that I have kept, rather tried to keep
throughout my life from my early seminary days; I have been deeply touched by your very response to the
requests I have made. Thank you very much. It was so inspiriting to see many of you coming to mass on
Tuesday evening and the Wednesday to celebrate the Ss Peter & Paul, the solemnity and the day of obli-
gation. I thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord and for your love and concern shown towards me.
I have been noticing since a couple of Sundays ago, that there is a noticeable silence and quietness be-
fore we began mass and also after mass. I was wondering whether I have said something or done something
that has been terribly upsetting, which probably I am use to be doing, but then realised that I did write
about the silence that people observed before the mass of confirmation and not making the church to be a
market place or a community hall before and after mass. Wow, your response has been stunning. You
might have agreed or not with me, but you have shown me great love and regard that has brought tears to
my eyes before I started each mass. Thank you very much for that.
If you ask me, whether I wanted to see a monkishly praying parish or a warm and welcoming par-
ish. I would whole heartedly say, a warm and welcoming parish. A happy and a cheerful parish, in spite
of this grumpy, retired priest! Yes indeed, I wish the parish to be a warm and welcoming, cheerful and
happy parish. So please do, rather than, show a very sombre prayerful mood to those who come and visit,
do show a happy and welcoming parish. Do welcome those who stand next to you and have a chat, wel-
come them and ask how they are and doing. If you do not see the usual face find out about them. Don’t
fail to say hi and welcome to new faces. Yes above all let us be a loving, welcoming and a caring parish,
but certainly not one that wants to be nosy, gossiping and giggling as our preparation for mass.
Here’s the bit I rely on. We should be able to do both. A praying, but also a welcoming and a cheer-
ful parish. We need not be spoon fed. We should be able to judge to ourselves and do the best, with a con-
sideration to the presence of the Holy Eucharist and a worthy preparation to the mass. So thank you for
your wonderful response. I am deeply, deeply touched. Thank you for your love and care. ‘I call you
friends, says the Lord, because I have made known to you everything I have learnt from my Father’.

Pro-Life Early Day Motion 123 — The Royal Col-lege of Midwives is being forced by their chief to support a campaign to completely decriminal-ise abortion, which would permit abortion up until birth for any reason, scrapping the current 24 week upper limit. Many midwives are ex-tremely upset by this, as you can imagine. Cath-olic MP Robert Flello has tabled an Early Day Motion (123) opposing both the policy and cam-paign to decriminalise abortion up until birth. Only 11 MPs have signed it to date. See poster.
