This year, Pope Francis has opened the Holy Year of Mercy and has asked all
Catholics to be witnesses to Mercy. God is a loving and forgiving Father who loves
and embraces us with all our weaknesses and always forgives us. To be a witness to
God’s mercy, the Holy Father has asked all Catholics to show our love for God and
to our neighbor, by performing the Works of Mercy.
Our parish family of St. Christopher/St. Sylvia will perform the Works of Mercy together
so that we can be a witness to God’s love in the world. Please take a moment to review the
program that has been arranged for the weeks of Lent. Please prayerfully consider how you can
be a witness to God’s mercy and love.
As a reminder, we will have information in the bulletin each week on the Works of Mercy
chosen for the week. In this Holy Season of Lent, let us exemplify our love for God by our
actions to others. LET US BE THE WITNESSES OF HIS MERCY.

HEALING MASS
On February 11th, we
celebrate the Feast of Our
Lady of Lourdes. This day marks the first apparition of
Our Lady to a young girl named Bernadette Soubiroux in
Lourdes, France, in 1858. February 11th has also come to
be known as “World Day of the Sick,” as many people
seek Mary’s intercession on this day for themselves or for
loved ones who are ill.
We will have special prayers & Anointing of the
Sick at our 9:00 AM Mass, Thurs., Feb. 11. Please join us in asking Our Lady’s intercession for our
parishioners and loved ones in a special way on this day.
PLEASE NOTE: The
meeting for Extraordinary Ministers
& Lectors on Feb. 24th has been
cancelled due to a scheduling conflict.
A new date will be announced shortly.
Tues., Feb. 2nd, Candlemas, is the
Presentation of the Lord, 40 days after
His birth. Simeon said that Jesus is
“a light for revelation to the Gentiles.” It
came to be that candles used in church
ceremonies & rituals, throughout the year,
are blessed on this day.
In your prayers, please
remember the sick especially
