EDITOR'S PICK, 20 HSTUDIO NOTES

Hello my crafty friends!

This month is always a hard month. We say goodbye to the leaving

design team and narrow down all the applications to just a few

gals. This year we had so many talented people try out and, as

always, it was so hard to pick. As a Design Team coordinator I

always hope that I am picking the right girls for the job, but I can

say with confidence… this will be the best team yet! We have

so many different styles of crafting that will make any audience

happy. I can't wait to see what they come up with as they work

with the new collections and assignments.

So here's to a new Design Team and another GREAT year of

beautiful projects!

Spring is just around the corner. Here’s some wonderfully crafty inspiration

to gear up for those warmer days ahead. Enjoy!

By Leslie Davis // I was lucky enough to have some the new Special Delivery papers by Heidi Sonboul leftover from my CHA Winter Assignments to use on this layout. What a joy! At first glance, this collection looks decidedly masculine, but as you can see it has a lovely feminine side as well.

Pretty simple layout, really. The design is centralized on the strip of floral paper and the muslin ribbon and creating a layered effect with different patterned papers with mattes and doily rub ons. And of course, what spring layout wouldn't be complete without a splattering of paint, flowers and butterflies? I pulled out my trusty punches and accented the flowers with bling.

SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Special Delivery: Sincerely Yours (2044), Spencer (2046), Scott's Stamp Collection (2047).

Hi there! Jennifer here and today I am sharing my last layout for GCD Studios with you all! It has been a great two years with this team and I wish Heidi and all the new team the best.

For my Spring inspired layout, I went with a bright color scheme of green, blue, and brown with a pop of pink and yellow. I used papers from the Bonjour collection for this page.

SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Bonjour:

Nice (1539), Au Revoir (1533), Les Fleurs (1538),

Butterfly Flutter (1536), Petite Fleur (1542); Sweet

Tooth: Vanilla Shake (1563).

By Julie Overby

One of my favorite things about Spring is the color that the sun coats nature with. It was especially evident this Spring when we were living on my parents farm. I was so drawn to the way the sun came through the trees.

To create this layout I chose vibrant colors that reminded me of the brightness of Spring and the bright personality of my cheery daughter. I die-cut circles out of white cardstock to use as a backdrop for things that I wanted to pop out. Then I fussy cut flowers to use as an embellishment.

SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Oh Happy

Day: Priscila (1768), Alicia (1765); Splendor: Letter

Tiles (1680).

Rings of roses, bouquets of berries, and vines strung with hearts combine in delicious warm reds and cool greens, awakening the holiday spirit in a collection inspired by the timeless appeal of the rose. Ambrosia's celebratory flavor is perfect for holiday decor and sophisticated enough to be displayed all year long.

By Tessa Buys // One of my favorite things about living in California is seeing the trees blossom in February. Once those pretty petals bloom, spring is not far behind. While on my way to pick up the kids from school I pulled over to take an instagram photo of this particularly beautiful tree.

I wanted to make the photo the star of the page, so I printed it as an 8 x 10 and trimmed it to 8 x 8.5 for an 8.5 x 11 layout. I pulled patterned papers from two of my favorite collections - Splendor and Bonjour. Just a strip or two and an oversized photo corner is all I needed. To create my title, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut directly out of my photo. I backed the negative space with more patterned paper, then added the rest of my title with cameo-cut cardstock and alpha stickers. Fussy-cut butterflies and a simple, white doily were all the embellishment this beautiful photo needed. I lifted a couple of the butterflies for more dimension.

SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Bonjour: Provence Plaid (1544), Butterfly Flutter (1536); Splendor: Letter Tiles (1680),

Candytuft (1676).

By Wendi Robinson // Spring to me always says bright, happy colors. I kept the colors on the page light, full of pastels and worked with the colors from my kids outfits, since they wore matching outfits for Easter Sunday. Another thing that screams spring, are pinwheels or kites. I wanted to add lots of fun pinwheels for a playful spring layout. I also added the sun and a few scattered clouds to emulate the perfect spring day layout.

SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Oh Happy Day: Mira's Pearls (1764), Chloe (1766), Amber's Avenue (1774); Flower Child:

Peacock (1646); Country Charm: Tiny Floral Border (1513). Other: Cardstock, Alphas, Bling, and pop dots.

Spring is right around the corner, and nothing says spring to me like bright colors, fun patterns, and birds chirping outside! I love the bright colors and patterns in Sweet Tooth and couldn't resist using it on my card today. I just cut strips of two different patterns and alternated them on my card. Then faux-stitched a border around the edge to bring the whole thing together. I finished my card off with some ribbon, a stamped tag, and a little button with twine!

SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Sweet Tooth: Jelly Bean (1556), Sweet

Tart (1562).

Well, the groundhog saw his shadow, so you know what that means… it's time to clean out your closets so that you can add a whole new spring wardrobe!! Well, at least that's what it means to most women, but to us fabulous crafters who like to craft and shop, Spring means pretty flowers, soft pastel colors and butterflies.

I mixed some paper from last year's Splendor collection and this year's Pure Bliss and Charleston collections. I love apothecary jars and the smooth lines. So I stamped a few jars and then added patterned paper butterflies and some yummy textured embellishments. Just a softness to welcome in Spring.

SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Splendor: Posies (1683), Sunswept (1684),

Woven Chevron (1686); Charleston: Diva (2006); Pure Bliss: Journal Tags (2025).

By Tegan Skwiat

I love Spring, Easter, and bunnies so it is no wonder I love this project! The beautiful floral pattern from the Oh Happy Day collection brings so much happiness to the basket - it is perfect. This little favor basket could be given as an Easter gift or keep it for yourself and use it as a candy basket! I used my Silhouette machine to cut out both the basket and the bunny.

SUPPLIES: GCD Studios Pattern Papers: Oh Happy Day, Priscila (1768);

Splendor, Letter Tiles (1680).

Easter comes early this year and to celebrate this

happy holiday, we focus on eggs. Why eggs?

Well eggs are a BIG part of Easter. We hunt for

them, we eat them, and we decorate them… so

why not photograph them.

We wanted the cover to be playful, so we

dressed them up with faces and party attire

using the Nostalgia collection by Diane Kappa.

Little hats and a bunny in the middle is such a

charming look. They are super easy to make and

would be the perfect finishing touches on any

Easter Sunday breakfast table.

Spruce up your layout with these splendid roses. Cut out and pop them up or use whole.

This soft floral paper would add an elegant touch to any

girl themed project.

Using a pattern paper like plaid can add a fun retro feel

to your crafts.
