A Light to Guide YouQ: Which book of the Bible says God’s Word is a light for your path?a. Hebrewsb. Psalmsc. Proverbs

Imagine this. You and a friend are on a camping trip with your parents. The two of you get permission to walk along a nearby nature trail. You pack snacks and bottles of water in your backpacks, and you start off.

You are having fun and forget to pay attention to the time. The sun is setting quickly, and you realize you’d better head back to the camp-site. You know you just have to cut through the woods to get back.

“Which way?” you ask your friend.“I don’t know. What do you think?” Your friend looks around.“I’m not sure. Everything looks different in the dark.”“Wait a minute. I think I have a flashlight in my backpack.” Your friend digs

around for a few seconds and pulls out a flashlight. The flashlight gets clicked on, and a bright beam of light cuts through the darkness.

“Point it over there,” you say. “I think that’s the way back.”Your friend shines the light where you point. Sure enough, your campsite is

straight ahead. The flashlight has saved the day.God says his Word will be a light for your path, just like the flashlight lights

the path in the story above. The Bible tells you how to live, and it helps you make decisions. It’s important to become familiar with the Bible so you can use it as your guide for life. Read from the Bible each day, and ask yourself how the Scripture applies to you.

For You When it comes to life’s questions, you don’t need to feel around in the dark, try-ing to find your way. You already have a light—the Bible. God’s Word can guide you in making the right decisions and knowing what to do when you aren’t sure of the way. Take time to read a few verses of Scripture every day.

Answer: bYour word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.  Psalm 119:105

Make No MistakeQ: Which word means “without error”?a. infallibleb. inspiredc. inflatable

Have you ever been at a family gathering where your parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles were telling stories about their past, but no one could agree on the details? Your dad starts telling about the time he borrowed the car to take your mom on their first date. But your grandfather corrects him about what kind of car it was. Then your mother tells your dad they didn’t go to the restau-rant he named for their date. It takes quite a while to get the details worked out, and it’s possible not everyone agrees on the story.

The Bible contains many stories, but all of their details agree because God is the author of the Bible. He used around 40 different men to do the actual writing from their own personalities and experiences. But the message is always the same: humans have a problem—sin. God has the answer—salvation. That’s amazing when you consider the Bible was written over a time period of around 1,500 years. And the men who wrote it were from three different continents and had various jobs—shepherd, tax collector, doctor, fisherman, and more.

The Bible doesn’t contain mistakes, because God is the true author of the Bible. Although he used humans to record his words, the message is his.

For YouThere may be times when you’re reading the Bible and it doesn’t seem to match up. When that happens, ask a parent or a leader at church to help you find out why. Sometimes we may not understand the Bible, but God’s message is always right.

Answer: aAlthough the word infallible isn’t used in the Bible, the Bible tells us that it’s the Word of God and that God never makes mistakes.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.  2 Timothy 3:16

The VoidQ: How many days did God take to create the world and everything in it?a. 1b. 6c. 7

Did your parents ever watch any of the Star Trek shows? If so, they might remember the Star Trek: Voyager episode called “Night.” In it, the starship Voyager has been traveling through a black void for several weeks. There are no planets, stars, or other ships to be seen. The crew is feeling depressed by the constant darkness. Of course, by the end of the episode, the Voyager crew is back in an area of space teeming with stars, planets, and other species, and all is well.

That same kind of nothingness might be what you would have seen if you had been around when God started his work of creation. Then God spoke the heavens and earth into existence. But it wasn’t earth like you now know it. Can you imagine darkness everywhere you look? No sun or moon. No trees, plants, or flowers. No fish or birds. Not even a mosquito. Just a dark, empty planet.

Thankfully God didn’t leave the earth like that. He created light to shine on the earth. He separated the waters in the earth from the sky. He moved the waters together so there would also be dry land to live on. He filled the earth with trees and plants, and then he hung the sun, moon, and stars in the sky. He filled the seas with fish and the sky with birds. Then he created other animals to dwell on earth. What fun he must have had creating the elephant’s long nose and the zebra’s black-and-white stripes.

God created the earth and filled it with plants and animals. It was all ready for God’s final act of creation—man.

For YouGod created earth with mankind in mind. He wanted to create a place for his people to live and worship him. Everything he made was for you to enjoy. Take time this week to notice God’s handiwork around you in the things he created.

Answer: b Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.  Genesis 1:31(The Whole Story: Genesis 1)
