Background Information on the New York Yankees
The Yankees have team colors that consist of navy blue and white, in a
pinstripe formation. They have their own stadium, located in the Bronx, NY, by the name of Yankee Stadium. The Yankees do
not currently have a mascot, but had a large pinstriped bird wearing a Yankees hat named Dandy from 1979 to1981. They became an official MLB team in
1913.

very consistent performances, and

Meet Alex RodriguezAlex Rodriguez, or A-
Rod, is 35, and plays third base for the New York Yankees. He has
previously played shortstop for the Seattle
Mariners and Texas Rangers, and his jersey is number 13. A-Rod is considered one of the
best baseball players of all time, and is the
youngest person ever to hit 600 home runs,
breaking 2 records. His batting average is .303.
Meet Hideki MatsuiHideki Matsui is 36, and
was a left fielder and designated hitter for the New York Yankees from 2003 to 2009, until he
signed with the LA Angels and then the Oakland
Athletics after. His number was (and still is) 55. Hideki became the first Yankee to hit a grand slam in his first game at Yankee Stadium,
and was also the first Japanese player to hit a home run in the World
Series. His batting average is .290.
