THE COLLECT - Harvest Thanksgiving (Page 191BCP)
Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their
season and for the labours of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards
of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in
need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
or
O God, you have made us co–creators of our destiny; we give thanks for productivity and
for advances in many fields: in agriculture, in industry and commerce, and in science and
technology. Keep us ever mindful of your power and your love, the origin of all that is,
the source of strength and wisdom, harmony and wealth. All things come from you, O
God. We give you of your own, with praise and thanksgiving, through Jesus Christ, Our
Lord. Amen.
Seventh Sunday of Easter (Page 171BCP)
O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph
to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send your Holy Spirit to
strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Saviour Christ has gone before: who
lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen. 1st LESSON: 7:30a.m. - Debra Thomas 9:30a.m. - NCF
FIRSTFIRSTFIRSTFIRST LESSON: LESSON: LESSON: LESSON: Deuteronomy 8:1-3, 6-10 (17-20)
Moses said to all Israel, "All the commandments which I command you this day you shall
be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the
LORD swore to give to your fathers. And you shall remember all the way which the
LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble
you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his command-
ments, or not. And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which
you did not know, nor did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man
does not live by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out of the
mouth of the LORD. So you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, by
walking in his ways and by fearing him. For the LORD your God is bringing you into a
good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys
and hills, a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of
olive trees and honey, a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you
will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper.
And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land
3
he has given you. [Beware lest you say in your heart, `My power and the might of my
hand have gotten me this wealth.' You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he
who gives you power to get wealth; that he may confirm his covenant which he swore to
your fathers, as at this day. And if you forget the LORD your God and go after other gods
and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you this day that you shall surely
perish. Like the nations that the LORD makes to perish before you, so shall you perish,
because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God.”]
PSALM:PSALM:PSALM:PSALM: 65 (7:30a.m. - Page 547 BCP)
1. THOU, O God, art praised in Sion : and unto thee shall the vow be performed in
Jerusalem.
2. Thou that hearest the prayer : unto thee shall all flesh come.
3. My misdeeds prevail against me : O be thou merciful unto our sins.
4. Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and receivest unto thee : he shall dwell in thy
court, and shall be satisfied with the pleasures of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
5. Thou shalt shew us wonderful things in thy righteousness, O God of our salvation :
thou that art the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them that remain in the broad sea.
6. Who in his strength setteth fast the mountains : and is girded about with power.
7. Who stilleth the raging of the sea : and the noise of his waves, and the madness of the
people.
8. They also that dwell in the uttermost parts of the earth shall be afraid at thy tokens :
thou that makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to praise thee.
9. Thou visitest the earth, and blessest it : thou makest it very plenteous.
10. The river of God is full of water : thou preparest their corn, for so thou providest for
the earth.
11. Thou waterest her furrows, thou sendest rain into the little valleys thereof : thou
makest it soft with the drops of rain, and blessest the increase of it.
12. Thou crownest the year with thy goodness : and thy clouds drop fatness.
13. They shall drop upon the dwellings of the wilderness : and the little hills shall rejoice
on every side.
14. The folds shall be full of sheep : the valleys also shall stand so thick with corn, that
they shall laugh and sing.
2nd LESSON: 7:30a.m. - Vincent Broomes 9:30a.m. - NCF
SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: James 1:17-18, 21-27
Every good endowment and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the
Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Of his own will
he brought us forth by the word of truth that we should be a kind of first fruits of his
creatures. Therefore put away all filthiness and rank growth of wickedness and receive
with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the
word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if any one is a hearer of the word
and not a doer, he is like a man who observes his natural face in a mirror; for he observes
himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But he who looks into the
perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer that forgets but a doer that
acts, he shall be blessed in his doing. If any one thinks he is religious, and does not bridle
his tongue but deceives his heart, this man's religion is vain. Religion that is pure and
undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their
affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
GRADUAL HYMN - 707

THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: Matthew 6:25-33
Jesus Said "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or
what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than
food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor
reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more
value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life?
And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow;
they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like
one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and
tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little
faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?'
or `What shall we wear?' For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father
knows that you need them all. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all
these things shall be yours as well.

Bidding Prayer
Let us pray to God, Lord of the Church and of the world.
We pray for the people of your Church, those you have called to hear and believe your
word…Draw them together in unity, inspired by the mutual love of the Father and the
Son to be as one in faith and hope and love.
For all the people of the world that Christ came to save, those who acknowledge his
power and those who do not know him, we ask that his glory may shine upon them and
make them his own…As he has authority over all, may those who exercise power learn
the way of his justice and his mercy.
Protect those whom you have given us in love to be our families and friends…Guide them
with the grace promised to all who are your own, and help us to spread by word and
example the knowledge of your glory.
Come tenderly to those who having heard and sought to follow, have fallen away and lost
the vision that once they knew…Bring them back to the way that leads to eternal life…
HYMN 954 Sup
Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of
kindness
Sowing in the noon-tide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of
reaping
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the
sheaves.
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the
sheaves
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the
sheaves.
Sowing in the sunshine, sowing in the
shadows,
Fearing neither clouds nor winter’s chilling
breeze
By and by the harvest, and the labour
ended,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the
sheaves.
Go then ever weeping, Sowing for the
Master
Though the loss sustained our spirit often
grieves;
When our weeping’s o’er, He will bid us
welcome,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the
sheaves.

Have mercy on the sick, grant them healing and renewal of life.
We remember those who in this world began their eternal life through faith and have
entered into its fullness…As they are now in your presence, so may we grow in grace
towards that vision of glory.
We pray in the name of Christ, glorified before all worlds. Amen.

RECESSIONAL HYMN - Jesus Coming!
Verse 1
(Maranatha!)
From lowly Bethlehem
To great Jerusalem,
Ev’rywhere Jesus went
People were following.
Some sat down at His feet,
To hear the wondrous things he preached;
(to see) De miracles He wrought
Surpassing human thought;
Healing de lame and blind,
Curing de sick in mind,
And on one occasion,
With small means He fed five thousand.
Chorus 1
(and everywhere He went)

Smile: “Do you believe in life after death?” the boss asked one of his employees. “Yes,
sir,” the new employee replied. “Well, then, that makes everything just fine,” the boss
went on. “After you left early yesterday to go to your grandmother’s funeral, she stopped
in to see you!”
Hear them shouting,
Jesus coming!
Some want to see this man,
Some want to touch His hand,
Some happy just to touch His garments.
(hear them shout)
Jesus coming!
And it’s so exciting.
It was always big ‘kadooment’,
‘cause ev’rywhere He went,
He left people in amazement.
Verse 2
In spite of these wondrous things
Envy and hate stepped in.
Driven by jealousy
Of His popularity;
Some angered by His words
Plotted and crucified my Lord.
(Oh But) The grave could not keep Him in
In three days He rose again,
Conquering death and sin,
Ascending in heav’n to reign,
But His promise is true;
“I will be coming back again”!
Chorus 2
(That’s why we sing)
Jesus coming!
So let us start preparing;
There is no better time
For us to get in line,
‘cause when He comes
There’ll be no waiting.
Jesus coming!
My people start preparing;
Do not be left behind,
Cause when He comes this time,
He’s coming back as judge and king!
Refrain
(And on that day)
Robes of white, we will wear!
We’ wave palms. in the air
Hosanna we will sing.
Unto our King of kings
The blessed One
The Son of David.
(With shouts of Joy)
Robes of white we will wear!
We’ll wave palms in the air!
All those who kept His word,
Caught up to meet their Lord,
Eternity with Him to share!
Repeat Chorus 2
