Patterns
• Growth driven by diversity• Regional bifurcation of the immigrant labor
market.• What does this mean for Pierce County?• How do we capitalize on regional diversity?
Housing and Transportation
• This movement is caused by uneven patterns of housing affordability, housing type and employment.
• These are all indicators of uneven regional economic development.
• South Sound jurisdictions need to use housingas a starting point for economic development.
• By itself, housing will not support our local and regional economy sustainably.

Questions that we should ask ourselves
• In what sectors of the economy do we excel locally and regionally?
• Will we succeed on our own or do we need to work with others to produce a larger economic scale?
• Can we thrive as a county, if our wages are not competitive, even after COL?
Questions that we should ask ourselves
• What industry/economic sector is missing? • How can we benefit from King County’s economic
scale?• How do we get there?• What kind of leadership will help us get there?
