Since we had to cancel the October meeting due to the death of SK Charles Clevenger [SK’s Cabell Angle, Steve Cantu, Jerry Clark, Roger Trouesdale, and I participated in either the wake or funeral Mass], we will have a lot of things to deal with regarding getting staffing commitments for our two main fund raisers, the Super Bowl Sunday sub sandwich sale - the game is scheduled for February 2 - and the April spaghetti dinner. On Saturday, November 2, SK’s Will Watson, George Darnell, Marc Guevremont, and I attended the 4th degree exemplification held at All Saints Church in Manassas. We have a new Sir Knight, Michael Murrow, in our ranks. Congratulations to SK Mike! There is a group picture on the next page. The ceremony was beautiful and involved lots of preparation by the Virginia District Master Steve Raschke and other State and local Knights. It lasted from about 11:15 am until 2 pm. There was a choir that sang a number of patriotic songs, leading the SK’s in attendance. Monsignor SK John Creegan as the Assoc. State Chaplain led us in several prayers. State Chaplain & Bishop Emeritus Paul Loverde was in attendance and received a tremendous round of applause from the SK’s. Supreme has announced a new supplier for the official uniform, with a $50 price cut from before. It is made in the USA. Sales will resume in a few weeks.

Navigator’s Message

Sir Knights,

First, let me apologize for being late with the Navigator’s log - I just forgot to do it on time.

Navigator’s Message Continued

Many of the SK’s in attendance at the exemplification wore black suits, social baldric over a conservative necktie, official lapel pin (PG-113). Please remember that the above is all one needs to serve in the Color Corps. Our Commander, SK Jerry Clark, has devised a way of integrating these SK’s with those wearing the official uniform. So please consider joining the Colors Corps.

VJ,

Jim

Archdiocese for Military Services U.S.A. (AMS)

Currently 285 Catholic military chaplains provide pastoral care to over 1.5 million Catholics on ships, in combat, on bases and in 153 VA hospitals, but more are needed. The AMS Seminarian program identifies vocations and is now educating 30 men for the priesthood and subsequent military chaplaincy. The AMS has no parishes from which to obtain financial support and relies solely on donations. For more information and to donate, go to the AMS web site at www.milarch.org/ .
