Scope of the Project:

To design and construct a stormwater management system for a 25 year/24 hour SCS Type III Florida Modified Storm Event in a newly developed 12.37 acre community located in Rockledge, FL off of Roy Wall Blvd (Brevard County).

Components of the Project:

1. To design a stormwater management system (SMS)2. To prepare a construction schedule for the project3. To prepare a cost estimate for the project4. To provide a quality control plan5. To provide a budget control plan6. To develop construction contracts and terms

Client Goals:

1. To construct a quality residential development

2. To alleviate flooding in the development and preserve the development’s naturalhabitat

3. To create an efficient stormwater management system within the community with two aesthetically-pleasing large ponds

4. To finish the project on time

5. To make a profit

Page 5: The Natural Habitat of Brevard

The Stormwater Management System consists of:

1. Inlets2. Pipe/Swale Network System3. Wet Retention-Detention Ponds4. Outlet Structure

The Constraint:

Post-Development Conditions must be less than or equal to Pre-Development Conditions

The Benefits:

• Contaminated runoff water within the site will be treated by the two ponds as well as the five swales and be released to the outfall location as clean water

• The lots will have a great backyard view of two large bodies of water

• The lots will provide more waterfront than most communities in Brevard County

• There will be more wildlife preserve than any community in Brevard County

• It will be a private-gated community to make everyone feel safe and secure at all times

The Quality Control Plan:

To maintain standards in every project by:

• Inspecting• Analyzing• Taking Action

to make sure our product is always of the highest quality.

Page 14: The Natural Habitat of Brevard

Inspections = 3 Phase System:1. Initial Inspection – 1 to 2 weeks prior to task to ensure plans, equipment,

materials, methods will be ready2. Pre-Inspection – day of task, but prior to construction to ensure all

components are in place and according to spec3. Post-Inspection – after construction, to ensure task meets specs, prior to acceptance and payment

Analyze:4. Review inspections5. Review lab data Take Action6. Verbal corrections on the spot7. Follow-up in writing8. Do not pay until corrected

Page 15: The Natural Habitat of Brevard

The Budget Control Plan:

The budget control graph is our primary tool

Pay for:

- Work Completed- Materials on Site- Change Orders

Page 16: The Natural Habitat of Brevard

The Project’s Codes, Permits, Licenses, and Agencies:

CodesThe following codes will be implemented during the design/construction process:

- Storm Water Management Criteria (Code of Ordinances of Brevard County) – Volume II, Chapter 62, Article X, Division 6

- Storm Water Management (Melbourne City Code) – Storm Water Ordinance, Chapter 27, Article I

- Regulation of Storm Water Management Systems (St. John’s River Water Management District) – Chapter 40C-42, F.A.C.

Permits and LicensesAcquire necessary permits and licenses to complete task

AgenciesMaintain a good relationship with agencies and public

Page 17: The Natural Habitat of Brevard

The Project Summary:

• Post-Development conditions are less than or equal to Pre-Development

• The SMS will mitigate flooding within the development and preserve habitat

• The two ponds will be very large and aesthetically pleasing

• The construction schedule will ensure the project will be completed on time

• The budget control plan will ensure the cost estimate will be enforced

• A quality development will be achieved by following our quality control plan

• Client’s needs are satisfied and Shaw makes a profit on the venture!
