Rationale
The rice terraces cluster of Barangay
Nagacadan of Kiangan, Ifugao is a World
Heritage Site, inscribed as a living cultural
landscape.
The living cultural landscape could be
experienced as an Open Air Museum. This museum features the salient elements
of the Ifugao culture without being
intrusive and exploitative.

DESCRIPTION The Open Air Museum covers the Bilong-Pau-Bayninan-
Onnop-Wingngiyon loop in Nagacadan, Kiangan, Ifugao.
It is a living museum whereby households along the
footpath of the designated loop actively participate butmainly through the showing of documentaries/
lecturettes.
Locals show a documentary on an audio-visual equipment
on a cultural practice such as hudhudchanting. Culturebearers could also be tapped to conduct lecturettes on a
specific cultural practice and printed materials are
displayed.

DESCRIPTION
Visitors could touch and take picturesfreely, unlike in other formal museums.
These methods of information
dissemination will lessen the actualperformance of cultural practices which
otherwise would be inappropriate and
would desecrate the culture when done inthe wrong setting and timing. Locals will
not need to dance and sing every time a
tourist visits the area.

Air Museum Management Board and project
implementers.
The Open Air Museum will give the visitor a
sense of being in situand at the same time be

Established a Heritage Conservation Trust Fund.All activities, programs and projects will have to
put 15%or more of its revenue into the HeritageConservation Trust Fund.
This fund will be used primarily for therestoration of the rice terraces and for the
conservation of culture.
