Apparently there i$ not always comfort in numbers forthe SRC is nOWcomplaining about what will happen if theConstitution ill left in i~ present form There is really notenough work to keep everybody busy, they say, and twentyodd members would simply crowd their new office unnecessarily, We agree that too many cooks spoil the brothbut we can't help remembering the times we heard membersof other yeafll say that they were overworked, A commoncomplaint was that the work was left to u few members,
This seems to suggest that numbers are not all-im,portant and while we agree with the proposed change inthe constitution, we suggest thut the real issue may lieelsewhere.
We think, that there are three requirements essentialfor a successful SRC: (I) conscientious council members(2) good organization of the Council. (3) co-operation fromstudents.
Whether the council has five or fIfty members itcannot do ita woric well if anyone of these requirements isnot fulfilled
Elections to complete this )'ears SRC will be held soonand it's up to the Itudenta to see that those who get electedare COIl5cious of their responsibilities and are willing tocarry them out. A work espeei.Uy to the Prosh: don't getcarried away with slick talken. find out as much as youcan about the candidates' you vole for Those who gelthemselves elected only for pomts for the merit pin canhardly be espected to be of much use to the SRe or thosethey repreant
Any adminlitratlve body can only !unction effiCIent1)
If It has a good orgamution. If the Council, regardless ofit5 numbel'$, is organized from the start in such II, way thateveryone has his own work for which he is responsible, ncone should be o..'Uburdened while others twiddle theiJthum~ I
We admit that we've done a lot of criticUing of formerSRC and it will not be immune from our attacks this yea:if the occasion arises but we have n...·er failed to real~
that they have a big job to do_ With the best of intentionsthe Council can only do their work if they have the c0
operation of the Itudent5. It is our right and duty tocriticize and debate if we feel justified but when a ntle ha:ibeen made it should be kept-it 'must' be kept if we are tohave a Uni ..-ersity that is condusi'o'e to true edueation andde''1!lopment.
Ever been on a ship Ih.at had no Captam" W<t ha,'en'letthtr but we know what it f~ls like' Rtght now the MUSEis without a Cap1.8m; our editor has been stranded in thewild$ of Newfoundland for the put week. But we feelthat the MUSE must go out and this i.s our effort. We','emanaged to agl't'El lonR enough to keep the engmes runningwith the credit going to our Advertising Manager who hasbeen the moving spint behind the \'enture

Make il a point to get behind the Varsity teams withyour attendance and your 'lOCal support. Nothing is morediscouraging 10 a team than playing its games without anaudienc:e, Just ask any member of last year's varsity men'sbasketball team, they can tell you-or ask the cheer-leaderwho had no cheers to lead
Support and enthusiasm alone cannot constitute aschool spirit, but lhey can gl~'e it a chance to grow andde~'elop. All it needs is thai chance. It's up to you,
