  • Types of MuscleThere are three different types of muscles

    ● Cardiac muscles○ muscles that

    are in the heart.● Skeletal muscles

    ○ Under control of the nervous system.● Smooth muscles

    ○ hollow places like the stomach, and blood vessels.

  • Sprain● A sprain is an injury involving the stretching or

    tearing of a ligament

    ● Can cause instability in a joint

    Symptoms● pain, inflammation, and in some cases, the inability to

    move a limb

  • Strain

    ● Strains are injuries that involve the stretching or tearing of a muscle or tendon

    ● Occur when a muscle is stretched and suddenly contracts.

    Symptoms● pain, muscle spasm, loss of strength, and limited range of motion

  • Muscular Dystrophy● Genetic disorder that weaken the muscles that helps

    the body move● Not contagious, people with MD have incorrect

    information in their genes● Weakens muscles over time, can cause inability to do

    things most people take for granted

  • Cramp● Caused when muscle tightens and then shortens● Most common area to get a cramp is in the calfs● Caused from over extension and dehydration● Low blood sugar, and extreme cold or heat can also

    cause cramping
