In the wedding at Cana John tells us the simple story of a wedding, which more importantly, is a “sign.” A wedding is taking place, not only the one at Cana, but the more important one between God and people. God joins to Israel in the appearance of the Son. When Jesus changes water into wine, he replaces the old order (water) with the new (wine). The astonishing amount of wine (ninety to one hundred fifty gallons) suggests the superabundant blessings of this new age. Here lies the truth behind the wedding scene. Jesus revealed his “glory” and the disciples “saw” and began to believe him. Life Focus

World Youth Day Panama City 2019~Jan 22nd- 27th Millions of global Catholic youth have already begun to gather in Panama. WYD is open to all young people who want to take part in a festive encounter with their contemporaries centered on Jesus Christ. It is an opportunity to experience in first person the universality of the Church; to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who want to commit themselves to Christ and others. It is a unique way to deepen their faith and grow closer to Christ, by means of prayer and the sacraments, together with millions of other young people who share interests and ambitions. 001015

This is the first WYD in 20 years that we have not supported a young ambassador from our parish. None the less I ask for your prayers for the youth attending this year as they embark on a spiritual journey that will help & strengthen them with their vocation calling. I also ask for prayers for our past participants Robert C, Melissa Z, Michael O, Chris T, Chrissy R, Denis H, Tasha M, Jordan S, Malory G, Louis C. May the Holy Spirit enlivened in them through their unique encounters continue to bless them on their vocation paths. For and With Our Youth in Christ, Brenda Cavallin parish co-ordinator of Youth Ministry

PERFUME & SCENT ALERT!

A number of our parishioners are very sensitive to fragrances from perfumes, colognes & lotions. They can set off serious allergic reactions. We ask that people refrain from using them when coming to Masses so that all will feel welcome and safe. A small sacrifice for others! Thank you!

If anyone has a DVD player with a component cable that you would like to donate to St. Patrick’s Church, it would be greatly appreciated. It can be dropped off in the office between the hours of 10am and 4pm, Tuesday to Friday. Thank you!!

WYD Panamá Pilgrim Prayer Merciful Father, You call us to live our lives as a way of salvation. Help us to recall the past with gratitude, to embrace the present with courage and to build the future with hope. Lord Jesus, our friend and brother, thank you for looking upon us with love. Let us listen to your voice as it resonates in the hearts of each one with the strength and light of the Holy Spirit. Grant us the grace of being a Church that goes forth with vibrant faith and a youthful face to communicate the joy of the Gospel. May we help to build up the kind of society we long for, one where there is fairness and fellowship. We pray for the Pope and bishops; for priests and deacons; for those in consecrated life and for volunteers; for young people and all who will participate in the upcoming World Youth Day in Panamá, and for those who are preparing to receive them. Our Lady of Antigua, Patroness of Panama, help us to pray and live with generosity like yours: “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38). Amen.
