We, the people of St. Clare Catholic Parish, In the Diocese of Belleville, are called by God
in baptism to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Centered in the Eucharist, and strengthened
by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we strive to live the Gospel and further the reign of God.
We do this by creating a vibrant faith community, by actively promoting justice and evangelization, and by using our gifts in the service of God’s people, to give God
glory and reverence all of Creation.

Summer time and staying connected to your parish…
Summer is a great time for relaxing, vacationing, and family gatherings. I want to encourage our parents and grandparents to do everything they can
to be an example to our children of keeping God at the center of our lives, going to Mass each Sunday even during these ‘vacation months.’ If you do travel out of town, be sure to look up a Catholic church and Mass times at the convenient website “www.masstimes.org”
Please remember your parish tithe when on vacation by mailing in your envelope during the time you are away. I also encour-age you to think about using our easy ‘direct deposit’ method for your weekly contributions. Please use our website for this or call the office to pick up or have emailed this simple one-page form for making your contributions in a convenient and safe method. We need your donations even during the summer months!
ON ANOTHER NOTE…How to dress for Mass This is the time of year when our parishioners start to ask me to say something about the ‘summer attire’ at Mass. I realize this is a sensitive subject for some people and I do not want to of-fend anyone. While I will not say what to wear, and no one will be judged by me, I would like to remind everyone that Mass is a ‘Wedding Feast of the Lamb of God.” As I have written before, while what you wear may seem just fine for you, try to think about whether it may distract others’ pray-er. If going to a picnic after Mass, please feel free to change into ‘picnic attire’ after Mass in one of our restrooms. Again, I will not get into what to wear and not wear…but let’s all make an effort to keep Mass special by how we dress for God’s wed-ding banquet.
Thanks to all of you who make a commitment to weekly Sunday Mass and regular tithing…even in ‘vacation mode.’
God’s Peace, Fr. Jim Deiters

Jesus proclaims to us today – “I am the living bread come down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever.” (John 6:51) This is at the heart of our Liturgical celebration – our gifts of bread and wine becoming the Body and Blood of Christ. We are challenged to promote and support interest in vocations to the priesthood so that we can continue to receive Our Lord’s Body and Blood and then we “will live forever”.

Did you know... Did you know that more than 1.2 million people travel to Guatemala eve-ry year? Or that the Tikal National Park was the world’s first mixed
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Or-ganization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site? It holds within its border the Mayan ruins of Tikal, which come alive in the evenings with native Guatemalan animals like the howler monkey.

The Catholic Service and Ministry Appeal… join us as Partners in Hope
The homebound, sick and seniors living in four counties in the southernmost part of the state are assured they will have food to eat thanks to Daystar Community Program’s mo-bile food pantry, which delivers groceries on a regular basis to those not able to visit Day-star’s on-site food pantry. Your partnership with Daystar through a contribution to The CSMA helps make this life-saving ministry possible. If you haven’t already done so, make your gift to the Appeal today!
Are you interested in becoming Catholic? If so, please contact Matt Flynn at [email protected] or 632-3562. Now is a good time to start the RCIA process, a path of discernment and conversion leading into the fullness of the Catholic Faith. If you have been thinking about becoming Catholic, give Matt a call. You are always welcome!
