PALACIO DUHAU-PARK HYATT BUENOS AIRES

Palacio Duhau-Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, located in the fashionable Recoleta shopping and residential district on Avenida Alvear, combines a restored Palace with the new Posadas building, which was built in architectural harmony with the palace. The hotel seamlessly integrates Buenos Aires' legendary glamour with 21st century innovative design and state-of-the-art technology. The Palace has all the features of an authentic "Hotel Particulier", the most outstanding of which is the main entrance porch with its Imperial semi-covered stairs and the double high column rows. Classic materials, natural light, neutral and warm colours, and detailed iron work instantly identify the "belle époque" glamour of the palace and are reminders of the building's residential character. The handsomely restored Palacio Duhau itself, built in 1934 by French architect León Dourge, is one of the few remaining palaces representing the city ’s traditional and exclusive "Porteña" aristocracy. In contrast, the new, contemporary Posadas building reflects the future of Buenos Aires. An underground walkway and gallery showcasing international and local artists, and expansive private gardens connect the two buildings.

The first property in the Maldives to commit to the EarthCheck Planning and Design Standards during construction, the interiors include natural timber and stone to reflect the lush, indigenous surroundings and infuse contemporary design with traditional Maldivian elements. Following an extensive audit in 2011, the property has recently been awarded with Silver EarthCheck Certi!cation – making it one of the few resorts worldwide to gain such recognition. This achievement also follows the recent launch of the 2012 Hyatt Thrive Community Project – the company’s global corporate responsibility platform – which enables employees to continue to contribute to their communities despite living away from home.

Art Deco #ourished in the 1920's and 1930's and is characterised by the use of chrome and rich woods as can be seen at Park Hyatt Melbourne, both in the public spaces as well as the guestrooms. The hotel has had a strong connection to the arts since its opening and has a magni!cent collection of local & international artists on display throughout. Intricate detailing and decorative !nishes are very much a part of the hotels ambience and character. The warm tones of the marble and the timber in the lobby and the public spaces are o"set by custom made metal products, such as the nickel plated grilles in the foyer and the restaurant which are a repeating, decorative theme.Just as the designer of the hotel (David Parsons) said: "Intricate detailed and exotic materials are everywhere. Rare materials such as cast blue and amber glass, in-laid marble, exotic woods and beautifully crafted metal work give it a jewel-like feeling. The hotel is like a jewelry box, for guests to open and explore."

PARK HYATT MILANO

Park Hyatt Milan is located in the heart of the city, overlooking the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and a few steps from Piazza del Duomo, the Alla Scala opera house, and the city's cultural and financial district. The hotel’s architecture and interior design are done by the famous American architect Ed Tuttle. Rigorous forms match a spare, clean design, and original combinations of quality materials help instil a sense of peace, tranquillity and luxury. La Cupola is a spectacular lobby lounge dominated by a huge nine-metre-high glass dome. In this area of the hotel, the arichitect Ed Tuttle has placed natural travertine stone side by side with the pink granite of the columns and the huge urns. Light !lters down through the glass dome and, after sunset, the lounge is illuminated by spotlights placed in the capitals of each column and by a special form of alabaster panel backlighting. Decorated according to the canon of contemporary classical style, the 106 guestrooms and suites excel in original architectural and design details. Travertine has again been used widely, although here it features black inlays to give the marble greater depth. The high ceilings are given greater prominence by imposts covered with precious apricot-coloured silk. Every room is pleasantly spacious and the extra-large bathrooms, bathed in natural light, mirror the discreet luxury that characterises the entire hotel.

PARK HYATT NINGBO RESORT AND SPA

Park Hyatt Ningbo Resort and Spa, first Park Hyatt-branded resort in Greater China, has been created in the style of a traditional, Chinese water village to blend, discreetly, into the surrounding vista. As a new premium leisure destination in China, Ningbo literally translates as "Serene Waves"- an appropriate description for the tranquil new waterside retreat on Dong Qian Lake. Park Hyatt Ningbo Resort and Spa is a Chinese waterside village-inspired resort destination with well-appointed guestrooms, suites and villas, and comprehensive recreational facilities, harmoniously set along the picturesque Dong Qian lake front and tranquil garden landscape. The complex of low-level, standalone villas with simply plastered exteriors and tiled, gabled rooves, resembles a hamlet that has developed organically over time. Multiple open courtyards and sky wells, punctuated with ponds and gentle landscaping, echo Chinese architectural principles. The interconnecting structures create a layered effect and an experience of gradual discovery for guests, unveiling new spaces, levels and ambiances at every turn.

The greenery of the city is invoked in the use of natural elements such as the bamboo garden in the Reception, and sets the stage for the hotel’s "Urban Forest" feel. This same design thread runs through the contemporary architecture of the building. The renowned Zurich-based firm of Meili & Peter Architekten have made a bold statement by melding transparent elements such as glass with external greenery and an abundance of natural light, creating a fusion of indoor and outdoor, the urban and the natural. Light permeates the entire building further

ANDAZ 5th AVENUE

Once the historic 1916 Rogers Peet Building, Andaz 5th Avenue blends elements of pre-war, industrial New York with the chic sophistication of the reconditioned New York Public Library and the allure of bustling Grand Central Terminal. Guests experience the juxtaposition of old and new Manhattan from the moment they walk through the door of the Tony Chi designed hotel. A five metre-high entranceway is adorned with columns of scored limestone that frame the sash windows, resembling century-old Manhattan factories. The engraved bronze overhead panel acts as a subtle sign for the hotel entry. Venture further into the lobby and guests are immediately greeted by a white, eight-foot-high marble and resin Nick Hornby sculpture. Upon first glance one may see a modernist sculpture, but the true meaning quickly unfolds as it is "read." The loft style rooms start at 30m2 and feature 3.6-metre ceilings and double glazed windows. Rooms feature a transparent, open-faced closet, paying homage to the rolling racks that roam the fashion district near the hotel.

ANDAZ LIVERPOOL STREET

Andaz Liverpool Street, originally opened as the Great Eastern Hotel in 1884, was designed by the infamous Barry family of architects who were also responsible for the Houses of Parliament. Housed in this beautiful redbrick building, the interiors of Andaz Liverpool Street have since been transformed into a 21st century masterpiece, with 267 beautifully appointed guestrooms, fourteen event spaces and !ve diverse restaurants and bars.In 1901 an extension to the original hotel was added in response to the growing demand for additional rooms. The craftsmanship and materials used were of the highest quality and today many of the features of both the original building and the extension have been listed by English Heritage. Over the decades though, as popularity of train travel began to dwindle in favour of other modes of modern transport, the Great Eastern Hotel's popularity also declined and the hotel fell into disrepair. In 1996 the hotel eventually closed for a period of four years to then re-open in the spring of 2000, and reveal a breathtaking Victorian restoration incorporating the bold new spaces and structural designs that are seen today. The Atrium Gallery and Rotunda were built to link the original building to the extension.

Andaz Shanghai is the first Andaz property in Asia Pacific and the sixth hotel to open under the new Andaz brand operated by Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. Andaz Shanghai is located in the heart of the city's most famous entertainment, shopping and commercial district, Xintiandi. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), one of the world's pre-eminent architecture firms based in New York, Andaz Shanghai sets a new standard for modern, high-rise buildings in historic urban districts in its innovative design, diverse programme mix, and connection to surrounding context. "An unexpected, but welcomed challenge was to develop a masonry façade so that the building would fit with the surrounding context. Since we wanted to keep the tower from simple to accommodate and e$cient hotel #oor plate, we focused on the expressive possibilities of the stone clad wall", says Joshua Chaiken, KPF Design Principal. The newly constructed 28-storey hotel features 307 spacious guestrooms and suites, all with vibrant views over Shanghai and impressive LED lighting where guests can customise the colour to suit their mood. As in all Andaz hotels, non-alcoholic minibar drinks and snacks, local telephone calls and wireless internet access are complimentary.

Internationally acclaimed architect and designer David Rockwell was commissioned to design the first of Hyatt’s new Andaz collection in Manhattan, which opens on February 1, 2010. The 253-room hotel occupies 13 #oors of a freestanding building on 75 Wall Street, below 24 floors of luxury suites and amenities, also designed by Rockwell Group. Converted from the old J.P. Morgan office building, all floors have 360-degree views and lofty ceiling heights. The Andaz Lounge serves as the lobby and communal living room, where lounge meets library and meets light-fare bar. Large windows encase the lounge, opening the space up to the landscaped park adjacent to the hotel, between Pearl and Water Streets outside. The lounge is infused with unexpected elements such as a small kitchen and a communal table for reading or working. The guestrooms are a celebration of light and reflectivity, featuring panoramic views, 3-metre ceilings and 2-metre-high windows with built in window seats. The rooms have a simple aesthetic of contemporary luxury.

GRAND HYATT MACAU

Located within City of Dreams, the aquatic-themed, integrated entertainment resort located on Cotai, Macau, Grand Hyatt Macau is composed of two undulating main buildings. Once the guests enter the hotel lobby, they will be impressed by the luxurious and grand atmosphere. Against a sweeping backdrop of travertine inlaid with red rainforest marble; overlapping geometric wall panels; hexagonal columns; and black marble flooring, a striking sculpture by leading Chinese artist Danny Lee dominates the grand space. Water cascades over a giant stainless-steel hemisphere, while above it, curved stainless-steel ribbons shower down from an illuminated cloud motif in the ceiling. Ribbons of stainless steel hang from the ceiling with cloud patterns, just like rainfalls. Matching up with a huge stainless steel globe with flowing water, they reproduce the continuous essence of the nature lively. And for the guests, a dazzling installation also express the hotel's design aesthetics and taste of space experience. The 22-metre-high ceiling and large amount of glass decorations introduce natural lighting into the interior, fulfilling the hotel with modern fashion and creating a spacious and bright atmosphere.

HYATT CAPITAL GATE ABU DHABI

Occupying floors 18 to 33 of the Capital Gate building, Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi o"ers 189 luxury guestrooms and suites featuring floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offer sweeping, bird's eye views of the Arabian Gulf and the city, and its sleek, contemporary design adds a unique silhouette to the skyline of the UAE capital. The 160-metre tower features the world's first known use of a 'pre-cambered' core, which contains more than 15,000 m3 of concrete reinforced with 10,000 tons of steel. To create the buildings 'leaning posture', the floor plates were stacked vertically up to the 12th #oor after which, they were staggered over each other between 300mm to 1400mm, giving rise to the tower's dramatic lean. Below this, 490 piles were drilled 30 metres underground to accommodate gravitational, wind and seismic pressures. The frame is an exoskeleton incorporating 728 unique custom-made diamond-shaped glazing panel. The impressive architectural feats that define the Capital Gate building are combined with elegant interior design concepts to create a uniquely refined guest experience. While standing at the outer periphery of a guestroom, guests feel as though they are #oating in mid-air since they cannot see the ground directly below them.
