Our Mobile Ag Ed Science Labs, 40-foot trailers complete with 12 lab stations and all equipment and supplies for a variety of experiments, travel to different elementary or middle schools in Pennsylvania each week. Students work cooperatively, in groups of 2, to solve a problem as they form a hypothesis, conduct an experiment, collect data, and draw conclusions. The 50 minute lab experiments, designed for grades 1 through 8, are of a nature that most classroom teachers wouldn’t attempt to complete them in a traditional classroom, as they include materials and supplies not readily available to classroom teachers. Additionally, a hands-on walk-through curriculum is available for grades K-2. Each experiment emphasizes a different aspect of agriculture, including, but not limited to, Pennsylvania’s primary commodities, the environment, biotechnology, nutrition, as well as food and fiber. The entire curriculum taught meets Pennsylvania Department of Education Science & Technology and Environment & Ecology standards, and is endorsed by the Department of Agriculture. Curriculum:

While agriculture is Pennsylvania’s leading industry, many of today’s students don’t make the connection between agriculture and the food on their table. When asked where their food comes from, they will say it’s the grocery store or the drive-through window at the local fast food establishment. Agriculture, including all involved in the food and fiber chain, employs one out of every

five Pennsylvanians. The continued health of this industry is paramount to the social, economic, andenvironmental fiber of ourexistence.
