From the Desk of Fr. Chris

This week we get a little peek of what awaits. Peter, James, and John hike up the mountain with Jesus and he is transfigured before them. The three go back down utterly confused. The way Mark constructs his Gospel, Jesus doesn’t make sense until the end, until Easter Sunday. It is only with the resurrection that the life, ministry, passion, and death of Jesus is understandable. Lent is a little like that - it makes no sense without Easter. We’re moving forward, jour-neying through Lent, preparing, and getting ready to celebrate Easter wholeheartedly. One of the disciplines to help us is Fasting. In old Lent, fasting was very big. Cutting out dessert, no in-between-meal snacks or refrigerator binges. It still has value but be careful going at it like you are storming the Bastille. We make a grand start, but after the first couple of slips, our perfectionist selves insinuate: “You blew it, why bother to continue.” Start off gently. Experience the hunger pangs. Connect with those who are hungry in the world everyday. Learn solidarity through fasting. Hunger for God!

Fr. Chris

Ministry Fair Have you been wanting to get more involved in the parish? Have you wondered what in the world Dignity Bags are for? Would you like to add your gifts of time and talent by participating in the liturgi-cal ministries at mass? Or are your gifts more toward putting on parties with the Activities Group or enjoying the camaraderie of the Knights of Columbus? Come over to the Community Center after masses on March 14 and 15 for the fun of our annual Ministry Fair. Over 30 ministries will have information about their activities, some goodies to hand out, and friendly members there to meet you. There will be special desserts and a great prize to win! Plan to spend a little extra time that weekend. We’re just waiting for you to join in the community action! Watch for details in the bulletin and then come on over!

Congratulations Ronald Snover and Susan Johnson were united in Holy Matrimony on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. We extend our warmest wishes and prayers for a long and happy journey in your life together.
