Bishop Leath acknowledged that the motion does not bind us to the request, but that the
motion is that we honor the request to dissolve the congregation and to remove the church from

cemetery. The property defaults to the property of the Annual Conference, and when the property
is sold there may not be much of any proceeds. Proceeds may be spent to maintain the property.

merge with the Kentucky Conference and to present their request and resolution to the 50th
Quadrennial Session of the General Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Bishop Leath shared that if merger of the two conferences is passed at the 50th Quadrennial
Session of the General Conference then the Conference Lay Organizations of the Kentucky and
West Kentucky conferences will need to delay their elections until November. Bishop Leath
recommended at the District level to think about how to cultivate due to distance, local level,
Presiding Elder district level and annual conference level which spreads the leadership. This will
be new to everyone and may initially cause a struggle. Suggestions to host quarterly meetings.
