The Minor in Cognitive Science Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary study of the mind. Cognitive Science studies the processes that underly perception, action, memory, attention, language, problem-solving, and other attributes of the mind, in conceptual, evolutionary, ecological, and developmental frameworks. Today, Cognitive Science also contributes much to the technology sector, such as in the development of ergonomic keyboards, effective advertising, intuitive software design, and robots. Given its multifaceted nature, the discipline is constantly growing! The goal of the Cognitive Science Minor is to help students gain both content knowledge and analytical skills. The minor has two required courses – Introduction to Cognitive Science (which counts toward the Social/Behavioral distribution requirement) and Statistics, plus four required, relevant electives (see back). Additionally, students are encouraged to get involved in research through Research Assistantships, Directed Studies, and the Honors program. Declare the minor by filling out a Declaration of Minor form: https://tinyurl.com/minordeclaration Direct questions & research approvals to Program Directors: Dr. Vivian Ciaramitaro ([email protected]) or Dr. Tashauna Blankenship ([email protected])
