THE MILLENNIUM

The word “Millennium” comes from two Latin words, MILLE, which means 1,000; and ANNUS, which means year. Together they mean 1,000 years. The word does not appear in the Bible, but is used by theologians to designate this period of time.

1-M THE MILLENNIUM

What is the starting and stopping point for this 1000 year period?

Revelation 20:5,6

But the rest of the dead live not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

1-M THE MILLENNIUM

6- Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection: Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

1- M THE MILLENNIUM

Those who come forth in the FIRST resurrection are HOLY: “the rest of the dead” could only be the wicked that will will be raised at the end of the 1,000 years.

2-M THE MILLENNIUM

How many resurrections did Jesus teach?

John 5:28,29

“Do not marvel at this: for the hour is coming, in which all who are in the graves shall hear HisHis voice,”

29- and come forth -- those who have done good, unto the resurrection of life,

and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

Since all the righteous dead will be raised in the first resurrection, I Thess. 4:16, only the wicked would be left to be raised in the second resurrection.

Where will the righteous be for this 1,000 year period?

Rev. 20:4

And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them: Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not

worshipped the beast, or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads, or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Hence, the MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST AND THE SAINTS WILL BE IN HEAVEN, NOT UPON THE EARTH.

What happens to the wicked that are alive at the second coming of Jesus?

Jeremiah 25:30-33

“Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and say unto them: `The The LORD LORD will roar from on high. And utter His voice from His holy habitation; HeHe will roar mightily against HisHis fold.

HeHe will give a shout, as those who tread the grapes, Against all the inhabitants of the earth.

31- A noise will come to the ends of the earth--For the LORD has a controversy with the nations; HeHe will plead HisHis case with all flesh. HeHe will give those who are wicked to the sword, `says the LORDLORD.”

32- Thus says the LORD of hostsLORD of hosts; “Behold, disaster shall go forth From nation to nation, And a great whirlwind shall be raised up From the farthest parts of the earth.

33- “And at that day the slain of the LORD shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall become refuse on the ground.

4-M THE MILLENNIUM

All the wicked who are alive at the second coming of Jesus are slain by the very brightness of His coming, 2 Thess. 2:8.

The wicked who died before Jesus comes will remain dead until the end of the 1,000 years, Rev. 20:5, first statement.

Who is on the earth during the 1,000 years?

Isaiah 24:1

Behold, the LORDLORD makes the earth empty and makes it waste, Distorts its surface And scatters abroad its inhabitants.

5-M THE MILLENNIUM

Since the righteous will have all been taken to Heaven, and the wicked will all have been slain; the earth will be EMPTY of human life during this 1,000 year period.

What is the condition of the earth during this 1,000 year period?

Jeremiah 4:23-27

I beheld the earth, and indeed it was without form, and void; And the heavens, had no light.

24- I beheld the mountains, and indeed they trembled, And all the hills moved back and forth.

25- I beheld, and indeed there was no man, And all the birds of heavens had fled.

26- I beheld, and indeed the fruitful land was a wilderness, And all the cities were broken down At the presence of the LORDLORD, By His fierce anger.

6-M THE MILLENNIUM

27- For thus says the LORDLORD: The whole land shall be desolate; Yet I will not make a full end.

The cities of the earth will all be destroyed at the presence of the Lord. The earth will be desolate, without inhabitant, for 1,000 years.

7-M THE MILLENNIUM

Where will Satan be during the 1,000 years?

Rev. 20:1-3

Then I saw an angel coming down from heavenheaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

7-M THE MILLENNIUM

2- He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

3- and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.

Satan will be bound on this earth during the 1,000 years. He can not deceive the righteous during this time, for they are in Heaven. He can not deceive the wicked during this period, for they will be all dead. There could be no second chance for sinners to be saved during this period, for the eternal destiny of all people has

been decided before Jesus returns the second time, Rev. 22:11,12.

He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still. .... I am coming quickly, and My reward is with me ......

What happens at the end of the 1,000 years?

Zechariah 14:4,5

And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west,

Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south.

5- Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee As you fled from the earthquake In the days of Uzziah king of Judah.

8-M THE MILLENNIUM

Thus the LORD my God will come, And all the saints with You.

When Jesus comes the 3rd time, He touches the earth at the very spot where He left it some 3,000 years earlier.

When Jesus came the 2nd time, He came FOR His saints. When He comes the 3rd time He comes WITH His saints.

9-M THE MILLENNIUM

What happens to the great plain that Jesus makes when He touches the earth?

Rev. 21:10

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great citycity,, the holy Jerusalem, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from Goddescending out of heaven from God.

9-M THE MILLENNIUM

The New Jerusalem will descend to the earth and rest upon the plain that Jesus makes. The city becomes the “camp of the saints,” “the beloved city,” talked about in Revelation 20:9.

10-M THE MILLENNIUM

What happens to the wicked when they are resurrected at the 2nd resurrection?

Rev. 20:7-9 Now when the thousand years have

expired, Satan will be released from his prison

8- and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth,

Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sands of the sea.

9- They went up on the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved citythe beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Who is spared from this disaster?

Rev. 20:15

And anyone not found written in the Book of LifeBook of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Those whose names are written in the Lambs Book of Life do not taste the 2nd death.

What happens to the Lake of Fire?

Rev. 21:1

Now I saw a new heaven and a new new heaven and a new earthearth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

The new earth follows the lake of fire. The saints will live forever in the new earth.

End Millennium
