THE ‘MIGHTY 10th’ DISTRICT
‘Greetings
10th District’
As you read this I had gone to Camp Ripley for
the National Security meeting. That was only
the second time that I had been up there. It
was a great meeting, learning about the Camp
and touring and visiting with the other District
Commander’s and the National Security
Chairperson. Then we had Fall Conference in
Marshall, MN and learning how the other
District were coming along with the member-
ship. As you all can see we are in 7th place
this week. How can we do better? I am ask-
ing first off all the Vice Commanders please
contact all your Posts and see what we as
Legionnaires can do to help get the Member-
ship numbers up. Everyone has gotten their
2nd renewal notice at the end of October,
then have each Membership Chairperson in
your Posts call or visit the members that have
not paid yet?
Election Day is coming up on 8 November and
I hope everyone gets out and vote.
Next I want to say Happy Birthday to the
U.S Marine Corps, 241 years old.
We have Veteran’s Day coming up on 11
November and thank you to the Posts that
invited me to their Dinners. Also, remem-
ber to thank a Veteran, Freedom is not
freeand support those who defended your
right to live free.
The 10th District has a Rally’s in Milaca on
12 November at 2:00. Department Pearl
Harbor Rally 3 December will be in Waite
Park, membership turn-in is at 3:00 and our
Christmas Rally is in Buffalo on 17 Decem-
ber starting at 1:00 PM (time change) and
then a New Year will be starting.
I do want to wish each of you and your fam-
ilies a very blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.
Let us never forget those who have served
and those who are still serving.
Just a reminder that my motto is “FAMILY
FIRST” and my project is “Helping PAW’S”.
Your District Commander

Veterans Day is upon us. Let us all remember to ‘Thank’ a veteran this month
and especially on the 11th. Talk to them and get to know them. Show them what
we, the Legion Family is all about.
Oct 19-20 six members spent hours calling expired members and those in post
1982, Department-at-large for a District Revitalization for Pine, Miles Lac, Kana-
bec, Isanti and norther Anoka and Chisago counties. We called hundreds of members and did
get over 20 to transfer to local posts that had paid for 2017 and better yet some delinquent
members decided to renew their membership. Individual Posts can log into mylegion.org
and search for members in your area on your own. (cont’d on page 2)

Membership (cont’d page 1)
Membership continues to come in and we all need to work on
the expired members who last paid in 15 and 14 and those who
were paid for last year. The District is in 8th place at 70.84%. We
are down almost 400 renewal from this time last year. I know we
can make up this up and also increase our numbers within the
district.
Any questions, please feel welcome to contact me.

Well it’s November and riding season is coming to an end for the year. It all depends on you and the weather. Vet-erans Day is an annual United States holiday honoring military veterans (November 11). Everyday should be Veterans Day and I like to take this time to Thank all Veterans for your service.
Changing Gears a little, I would like to do a lot of bragging about The American Legion Family here in Minnesota. Minnesota is the #1 state in the nation in contributions to The American Legion Scholarship
Fund. With $148,367.70 turned in at National Conven-tion in Cincinnati, OH with a grand total of $1,155,363.03 Nation wide. And I would also like to Thank The American Legion Riders that Volunteer many hours, pay for their own gas & hotels and pay for many of their meals. Plus paying their own up keep on their bikes. In the 2016-2017 MN Legacy Run year, we have to make an adjustment to our two weekends Run. We have to back-up a weekend do to National’s changing the date of National Conven-tion. So we well be starting the last weekend of July and the first weekend of August. Mark you calendars. And talking about marking your calendars add April 8th 2017 @ 2pm we well have the 10th District ALR Hosted Member-ship Rally at Clearwater American Legion Post 323. That’s about all for this newsletter. Oh Yeah, have a very nice Turkey Day (Thanksgiving). Until next time,
Riding with a Smile

My report is that we are still working on trying to get our quo-tas and/or memberships in and it hasn't been to good. The base commanders need to get out there and get the mem-bership soon. They can get hold of Colby if anybody has questions about your membership 10th District SAL Commander Larry S Daml

Adjutants Thoughts
Let’s make sure we have a great turnout at Milaca for the Veteran’s Day Rally. This is the
Auxiliary’s rally and President Linda looking for a good rally with lots of membership turn
in.
This is a good chance to interact with our friends in the northern part of our district.
We thank Milaca for sponsoring this rally. See you there!
In a couple of days I will have a version with more Fall Conference pictures.
We had a great representation in the ‘Grand March’.
